Work on your fitness.
Fitness isn't something you do; it's a state of being. To be fit, you must have an active lifestyle that is augmented by specific habits.
Hunter-gatherers were in perfect physical shape because their lifestyles demanded it. In order to survive, they had to run, work, and shiver. As a result, their muscles were trained, and they had minimal fat stores.
You are not fit because your survival does not require it. With this in mind, it will be more difficult for you to become fit because your impetus to be fit comes from desire and not necessity.
Getting started means waking up early every morning and exercising. You must also work every day for at least eight hours and then go to bed early. Fitness is readiness, and readiness means being able to work all day, every day.
Fitness also means resiliency, so you have to work on your determination and ability to cope with adversity. Ask yourself how easily you accept defeat, and under what conditions. If your body is strong but your mind is weak, you cannot truly be fit for any sort of duty.
Fitness and health are also synonymous, which means that your diet affects your fitness. Eating poorly or not at all will negatively affect your performance and development. The most harmonious thing you can do for your body is to eat the proper foods in conjunction with an active lifestyle.
If you want details on working out, go to /fit/, because working out is simply that: details. Many people work out, but they are not fit because their lifestyles do not encompass the points in this post. Fitness goes beyond the gym; fitness is holistic.
Go forth and spread the word.

Try to do it in one hour.
When that gets easy, add a rucksack or do calisthenics every mile.
Muhammad Ali called this "roadwork."
