20y art student here
first of all, I think you would get better help at 4chan /ic/ board, check the sticky.
>how do I into jobs around my field
well more specific field you want to work in would be great. (is it storyboarding?or concept art?maybe illiustrations?
though it maybe hard to decide…also it will be harder to get into field, cause specific skills are required that takes a lot of time to get….
But you get work by having connections with ppl obviously. One way is to do have make a portfolio and send it to the studios, art directors, visit ads agencies and so on. One way or another you must enter the industry. Google this topic, there are ton of better answers out there.
Warning: it MAY BE rough and shitty working as an artist the first years with low income and long hours and doing the jobs you dont like, as far as I know, a lot of people went through this..but it DOESNT MEAN that you're going to be one of them.
>I don't know how I'm going to live
if you are good at something, people will pay.
>I don't know jack shit about money and I hear trying to live with an art career is hard
if u suck at the whole thing, yeah it might be. Also, depends where you live. I am from East Europe, so if I will manage to get work from West Europe and so on, it will be nice. I think there is always way more opportunities than you can see.
>I just don't know what the hell to do really or what the right thing to do is
well you probably feel lost. Bro, I dont even know what to respond really, cause I often feel lost in this fucking world
But right now, I think it will be hard to you find jobs related with art (but who knows, i might be wrong, im just 20y fucker)
I think the top priorities would be studying a lot.
I may wrote a lot of shit. Or just shitty, not shit. I don't know. I will post some links now. Cheer up by the way!
