>try to be productive writing essay/schoolwork

>finish a few words

>get bored and browse chans/fb/youtube/etc…

>4 hours later

>nothing gets done

How do you actually focus and be productive on shit that is boring? How do you not get distracted? It's almost like my brain has some kind of workphobia or something.

Disconnect from the Internet. Unplug the router, whatever you've gotta do.

Alternatively, go to a library or some place like that when you've got important things to do. In a new environment, it'll be easier to form new habits.

Try the pomodoro method: work for 25 minutes, then rest for 5 minutes. Repeat until done.

that greentext was my day. I'll need to forbid myself from browsing chans and other internet stuff not related to work. Procrastination happens to me a lot.

Just fuck my shit up fam, I've got a thesis to finish until the end of March.

Try >>4979 and >>4983 for starters; I also use Leechblock as backup.

Breaking your work up into smaller chunks works great, I'll do work for 30-45 mins then read a book for 10-15 and come back to my work refreshed.

For long-term results, read more books and spend less time on the internet. Heavy internet users have more white matter in their brains and have similar brain activity to drug addicts when they browse; I find that after spending several days reading more and browsing the internet/Jewtube less, my brain feels clearer and less fuzzy. It helps me focus on tasks that need doing.

Same here lad. I've only done 400 words so far out of 8000. How about you?

You retard, you missed the most important post in this thread >>5059.

OP I don't have a straight answer but you don't want a quick fix like modifying a hosts file or installing an add-on.

What you want, dare I say need, is an epiphany to where you automatically prioritize whatever it is you need to work on above spending time on petty time sinks.

No need to be rude. I've read that when I had similar problems, and it didn't help me at all, while the pomodoro method actually did. Not everyone works the same way.

400 words seems good enough for me. Some days I waste my time on the internet and don't write a word.

I'm so shit at writing. I think I am not clear enough in what I say and I tend to complicate things a lot. It may also got to do with understanding the subject I'm working on which is not my case.

Now I remembered I had this book but never skimmed through the pages.
