Can we get some threads about improving our income streams or our jobs? It seems that a lot of people here are focused on /fit/ kind of things, which are great, but I figured that this board might also be good for talking about improving other areas of our lives.

I saw some people on /b/ talking about passive income streams and the like, but none of it was too impressive. They were just making like $2 a day doing boring, repetitive things on crappy little websites. I want to avoid things like that, as they all feel kind of scammy.

I'll start with the few things I can recommend:

Udemy - This is a site that lets anyone teach online courses on anything. You can charge people to take your course, and it seems like some people are making a lot of money off of well-made courses. It would obviously take a lot of effort to make a course that sells well, and I have yet to come up with a solid course idea, but it looks promising.

Gamejolt - If you develop freeware games you can post them here and get a share of the ad money. It's something like a penny per 50 or 100 views at first, but I think it scales up with popularity. If you have a really popular game it can start to build up fast. I've made a few quick games and I've uploaded them. I plan to continue making small games every once in awhile and to leave them all sitting for the next year or two. My hope is that when I finally come back to collect that I will have built up a nice little chunk of cash. I would have been making the games anyway, though, to be honest.

Youtube - This is an obvious choice. Ad money from Youtube videos can be decent. I've made about $70 from my channel with barely any effort. The only drawback is that you can only withdraw if your balance is over $100. It kind of sucks having to wait for that.

And that's all I've got. How else can I improve my income? Workplace advice is also welcomed, as are books/videos/etc on the subject.

Also, if this doesn't belong here, my bad. I just figured this board was meant to be more general.

Freelancing or whoring yourself out.

There are Fiverr, Odesk, E-lance for easy freelancing. Hell, there are people who get cash from taking pictures of themselves holding a fucking sign.

That's not passive income. That's mindless bullshit.

Passive income is writing a book and putting it up online and collecting a check monthly, or starting a website and collecting money from that.

It's essential to decouple your income from your life, meaning working to make X dollars per hour of your life is bullshit. LIfe's worth more than that. Make something that will continue to pay you even when you're not working on it, like a business you've built and then made automated, or like the games you're talking about.
