One way to improve yourself and your life is to arm yourself. Shooting can be a fun and exciting sport, and a way to defend yourself.
I'll be covering how to arm yourself in this thread. Most of my advice will be applicable to the United States only. If any Canada/EU anons feel like posting a guide to gun ownership in their country, it'd be great.

An affordable and effective way to arm yourself is a pump action shotgun.
Pictured is a Maverick 88, which should go for about $200 new, and cheaper used. Aside from home defense, it will usually come with a longer 28 inch barrel for sports such as hunting and clay shooting.

Pictured in the OP is a Mosin Nagant rifle.
It was designed in 1891, and was used by the Soviets in both World Wars, and was also used by many other countries. If there's a large conflict, chances are that the Mosin Nagant has fought in it. It's used by hadjis in Iraq and Afghanistan today, and has appeared in the currently ongoing Ukraine bullshit.
It's chambered in 7.62x54R, which is an affordable and effective round. This rifle is capable of bringing down any game on the North American continent, provided you do your part. It's also a ton of fun to shoot.

Similar to the Mosin Nagant, other commie rifles are affordable, effective, and proven in battle.
Both the AKM and SKS rifles are chambered in 7.62x39.
You can find SKS's online for about $450. It is semi-automatic, which means that one trigger pull equals one bang, and it will go bang for as long as it is fed, and it has a ten round magazine, top fed by a clip. It's a simple rifle to learn on, and practically idiot proof, just like the Mosin Nagant and AKM.
99.9% of AKM's you will find are semi-automatic as well, but there are fully automatic variants which cost ~$15,000 due to retarded federal regulations, if I remember correctly. They are usually sold with thirty round magazines, but you can find both higher and lower capacity mags for them. Lower-end AK's like Romanian WASR's can be found for about $500.

Also for around $500, you can find Glock handguns.
Glocks can be found in just about every handgun round there is, with few exceptions.
They come in just about every common handgun round out there.
They're affortable and retard simple. Many don't like them because of their aesthetics, though.

I can confirm that the Mosin is mostly idiot proof and fun as hell as long as you buy the fucking multitool to check the headspace on the bolt. Clean the gun if you're firing surplus, don't be too eager with the bolt, don't force the bayonet on, make sure the firing pin is the right length, and don't use the thing to defend your home unless you want to attack your neighbor at the same time.

Mosin's are pretty reliable, and cost effective. I would recommend one for any novice. They are very easy to learn the basics with.

>>14Would you recommend the 91/30, or the M44? Also, what do you think of the Chinese Type 53, is it any good?

Just stopped by to say that if you're planning on buying a nugget, now is probably the time. I recently picked one up for $150, and that's the cheapest I've seen since. It appears that the price is starting to increase, so get one now. Of course the prices I've seen are at B&M stores and gun shows, so you might be able to get one cheaper online.

>>55I'd go with the 91/30, unless you're a midget. M44's are more expensive and a bit less accurate. The Chink 53 is a solid rifle, but they're cheap enough that I'd just buy the Soviets.

>>55I have a 91/30 and an M44. The 91/30 is the better gun in all respects except for length and weight. The M44 is loud and unpleasant to shoot. There's no reason to get a Type 53 over a Soviet, full stop. Condition-for-condition, the Soviet is the better choice. In the same way, condition-for-condition, Tula is the better arsenal to look for. Sometimes things are just higher quality, even when things are very close.

>>19The aesthetic aspect of the glocks really are shit though. They're have an outstanding reputation and aside from the lol grenade jokes are very reliable.
My take is that everyone should have at least a 9mm pistol. Once you do buy it don't be a fag and go out and shoot. Take advanced classes if you can. Get into IDPA or even the get togethers that your local range offers. There's so many people that I know that have 70-100 guns at home that are really IMO a massive waste when they can't afford to shoot the things.

I'm in the UK. I'm a student who owns no land, but I've got a shotgun certificate. It was very easy to get. I now have a cheap side by side and a Mossberg 500 for doing clay shooting with and it is very fun.
