Most anime sucks though. Manga is where it's at although I'm losing my interest in that too it seems.

Decent coming of age stuff.

BECK is great in this regard. A nerdy kid with little confidence coming out of his shell and learning guitar, getting involved in the local rock scene, working out girls and becoming a great swimmer all the while balancing schoolwork.

(There was a whole lot of other great stuff going on but my mind is fuzzy)
