Psychedelics have been used for thousands of years to encourage spiritual growth, treat depression and anxiety, treat PTSD, improve willpower and unlock potential.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic_therapy

Personally, most of my psychedelic trips have been a slap in the face, waking me up to how damaging my life choices are and how much I am limiting myself.

They allowed me to gain a fresh perspective on my life, completely cured my social anxiety, and changed me for the better.

I'm going to the gym four times a week, eating better, in a great relationship, doing work I enjoy, and I've noticed people enjoy being around me more.

Has anyone else here been permanently changed by psychedelic trips for the better/worse?

I have wanted to do shrooms since I heard it helps with depression but don't have any friends that can give me some and I am tight on money. Kind of wonder if there is anything that can help with self harm and over eating.

Tuesday I dripped acid for the first time. I have been intrigued by it for a long while now. I was having a great trip, listening to the dark side of the moon for the first time with a group of friends. Until we had to go outside, one of my friends flipped out and had to go to the hospital. I left him behind while he was in his time of need with someone who was sober. The rest of my trip was me feeling intense guilt since I was the one that provided the acid.

Not only that but I had a date 2 days later, and we smoked some pot and I was relapsing into the acid trip. I usually smoke pot everyday, but I didn't know the acid would have still affected me after 24 hours. I was completely not ready for it, I was on the verge of blacking out and it ruined my date.

I really want to be in love with Psychedelics, but I can't stop feeling that it ruined my week. I almost picked up smoking again because of the stress.

It should still be possible for you to get some shrooms. Perhaps even find and pick them yourself in the season when they grow wild (assuming they do in your area). Otherwise just try to make friends with people who have connections. Weed dealers, hippies, people at music festivals, etc.

Alternatively you could buy some off of the deep web, but this is quite an involved process.

Sorry to hear.

Just curious, how much did you take?

Setting, and carefully picking people to trip with are very important.

If you are tripping with a first timer, stay sober instead.

The best way to trip for the first time yourself is with a sober, experienced trip-sitter.

Never trip if you have commitments, even for days later. Personally I would want a week after my trip with nothing on, to give me time to integrate it.

There are some good guides online to help you plan a positive experience.

Cannabis would be closer to "Soma" than classical psychedelics, and even cannabis can be used (by the right kind of person) for personal development.

Weed helped me with personal development. Every time I smoked indicas I would get really introspective and feel depressed or sad because I was unhappy with how my life was going. Then I thought that instead of just quitting smoking weed, I could find the root of my depression (not sure if its depression, but idk what else to call it) and try to fix it. So every time I would smoke weed, and just think about my life, what was going on, and slowly try to improve myself to the point where I was happy with myself.

What will 10g magic truffles do for me? Planning on tripping in my house with a friend who's done it once before and one who hasn't.

No idea, depends on what you've tried before, what your tolerance/body weight is, what your beliefs are… etc

The purpose of soma was to make people ignorant and narrow the scope of their awareness, in order to make them docile. The purpose of psychedelics is the opposite: to broaden the scope of awareness and facilitate adoption of new ideas, for better or worse.

I've become dependent, woe is me. Psychedelics reset my life and make everything beautiful. But the hopelessness creeps back eventually and I'm at the bottom again. I really hate having to rely on a crutch. It's a nice shortcut but it's not deliberate enough.

+ makes insecurity/social anxiety/emotional baggage feel trivial and irrelevant

+ allows you to see the funny side of your fears and problems

+ can massively deepen emotional bonds when you trip with others

+ fresh insight and perspective for generating new ideas and solving problems

+ perceptual changes in visuals, audio and body buzz are fucking delightful and can be super relaxing and fun

+ in a comfortable environment with good company tripping is excellent lulz

-/+ can permanently change your priorities and values which can be difficult to adjust to and integrate into your existing lifestyle

- if you don't have a strong mind you could lose your shit

- if you trip with people you don't trust or like that much or who can't handle themselves on drugs their freakouts or obnoxious behaviour will probably spoil your good times

- if your environment is dirty or unpleasant or you have a cold, are run down or tired or are otherwise not feeling great the drug may amplify your discomfort

I'm in favour of psychonautical exploration and I think it can be used to make positive changes in your mind and gain insight into your problems, but don't be a massive tryhard faggot about it.

Not a psychedelic, but an oversees friend of mine is currently experimenting with daily therapeutic doses of dexamphetamine to aid in their improvement. This post's information is purely from what they have told me.

Their research showed that there were reports of neurotoxicity in some animals, high addiction and that tolerance can increase fast.
Because of that, they made sure to limit the amount and frequency they used.
They also made sure to drink plenty of water and also made a rough meal plan to make sure they didn't forget and under-eat.
They also noticed that no one had any idea that they has started using dexamphetamine, as they can still function and look like a normal person.

Their current plan is something like:
>5mg orally in the morning
>4 days on, 3 days rest

The improvements that they have told me are:
>Work performance (Completing tasks much quicker, which allows them to get more things done and then improves relations with boss)
>Physical performance
>Sociability (No longer afraid to start and maintain a conversations with acquaintances and strangers)
>Mood lift (Confidence, friendlier)
>Desire to self improve and focus on goals
>Better reaction time and motor control
>Constantly always planning out their time.

The negatives:
>Trouble sleeping at night (Countered with cannabis, as natural sleeping pill didn't work)
>Can get focused on the wrong thing sometimes and lose time
>A little forgetfulness (Countered with a notepad + pen)
>Sweating more than usual

Overall they have said that it has been beneficial to them and that they like what it has so far done.
They have told me that they do not plan to use this for too long and expect to ease off them after improving a little more, eventually stopping use altogether.
They also said that they might give micro-dosing LSD a try after their experiments with dexamphetamine.

Shrooms are known to help with depression and anxiety related conditions. Even suicidal people have reported great improvements after good shroom trips. Some people say acid has similar capabilities, but I hear more stories of shrooms helping in this regard. Many studies have shown shrooms to be very helpful in helping people get past addiction, as well.

Ketamine shows promise for helping and maybe even curing depression. Early studies are looking good, and many more are still ongoing.

MDMA, XTC, ecstasy, drugs like these and in this family have been widely reported in helping people with social issues. Many have said that these drugs helped them with social issues, like having trouble connecting with others. I've also heard more than once of people who were previously terrible dancers becoming good ones after dancing while on these drugs.

There is a related thing called Holotropic Breathwork which has similar benefits, but without the illegality and risk of a bad batch.

Also with HB you can get out at any time. Apart from being the most fun I have ever had, it is life-changing.

What can I do about huge mommy and daddy issues?

Sometimes (when I'm on shrooms) I regress and start crying. I usually feel better afterwards, but it still strikes me as weird. Thoughts?

My mother is schizophrenic. Is it even safe for me to use psychedelics?
