>>971You know what may happen when you burn out? It's very possible that you will revert back to your previous routine and then it will take some time to build yourself back up to start again. Who knows, you may even restart straight away but wouldn't you rather fly smoothly? I mean it's easy to say all this now, when your motivation is sky high but motivation runs out, it always does, that's why you start small, because you are turning the activity into a habit, and once it turns into a habit, you will be able to do without a second thought.
For example, say my goal is to start running at 6 am for 1 hour every day. That requires significant amount of effort and thus significant amount of motivation. I'll probably be able to keep this up for a few days, but say during any of this my motivation runs out or something else happens, like I don't wake up or something in time, it's very likely my new found routine will go down the drain.
Now if I start jogging for 20 minutes at a comfortable time of day, and slowly and gradually decreased the time that I wake up in the morning. If I gradually increase, I'd eventually be able to jog for 1 hour and be able to wake up at 6am and if I keep going, I'll be able to wake up every day at 6am and jog for an hour without giving a single fuck mentally. Why? Because at this point it's about as much of a habit as brushing your teeth and thus, even without motivation, you will be able to do it with minimal problems. Not only that, but you will also be building discipline along the way.
