Hello!

This is the beginning of the Association of Individuals, a place dedicated to the discussion of individualist thinking. Covering any and all fields, from the Eastern thinkers, to critics of society, to post left anarchism, to what it means to be an individual, and what do we make of this?

Anarchists and minarchists are also encouraged to come in to discuss freely about their stances, as well as other philosophical and analytically minded people.

Ask for more flags to be added if you wish!

Thoughts That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread (T.T.D.D.T.O.T)

I'll begin. The point of this thread isn't to talk about anything in particular, but to get the ball of discussion rolling in some form of direction. Maybe you have thoughts or topics/concepts that you want to talk about but have kept to yourself. This is the thread for you. Here's a few strange thoughts that I have on individualism.

>how important is individualism to you?

>what roll does individualism and anonymity play in the shaping of societies, communities, and groups?

>what goes into supporting the existence and development of the individualistic mind?

>the fear against individualism, or critical thinking in a modern small pocket of society. What gives?

Just a few to get the ball rolling.

Hot Damn, as soon as I finish fucking with some flags, someone actually posts. I guess I will cycle this just in case and respond

>how important is individualism to you?

It's a massive portion of my worldview. I was socially inept (Diagnosed Sperg) and inevitably came up with some level of individualist existentialism before taking social skills classes in my early teen years, which gave me a massive culture shock needless to say. I find these ideas that I contribute to some spiritual essence such as a nation or a culture, or that I assign life meaning and this idea of what altruism is absolutely preposterous. I read Stirner in my mid teens and found my hair sticking on end from how similar my views were to his on society. Top it off with my biggest interest in my life has constantly been History and Sociology and Politics, giving me already tons of research into said topics, and it was natural I fell into that territory. Stirner and Nietzsche are still my two favorites in terms of their works.

>what role does individualism and anonymity play in the shaping of societies, communities, and groups?

Individualist thinkers have come up and advanced the fields of psychology, sociology, and philosophy greatly. See someone like Jung (although he was not outwardly an individualist but you can somewhat classify him as one) or Nietzsche, which greatly influenced various movements (even ignoring his sister's edited versions getting into circulation) and countercultures.

>what goes into supporting the existence and development of the individualistic mind?

Free thought and critical thinking. We are individuals already, however we are taught to not allow ourselves to be individuals from a young age and it continues for our entire life

>the fear against individualism, or critical thinking in a modern small pocket of society. What gives?

People think with ideals and emotions and are unconsciously acting to solidify their position for their happiness, and others may be a threat to this. There's also the higher causes imposed by society from ancient times agaiPost too long. Click here to view the full text.
