 No.320540

Hey /int/ I want to write a letter of intent for an American to come visit Canada for 6 months that I have to give to the border guard. I have to basically tell them I will have the American over at my house and will provide for them financially, ensure they don't starve, they are taken care of, etc. while in my country.

If you guys can help me get this written today I will be extremely grateful. I don't know how to do this at all and can't find a template or example. If anyone has an example or template I can follow, give me it please, everything I find is just random unrelated shit.

What? The American just needs a 6 month visitor pass to be in the country and my letter of intent is to prove they will be taken care of while here. I don't know how to write it though and can't find anything on the government site or anywhere else.

Don't you have 180 days visa free travel for tourism purposes? Why does he need a visa for 6 months?

 No.320549

>>320548

No, $400 was spent on a bus ticket, passport and everything was valid, they turned the American away anyways because "couldn't prove they weren't a drifter and would be able to support themselves while in Canada".

So letter of intent is to fix that bullshit so they let the American the fuck through.

I'm pretty pissed about and want to make sure things go through properly this time so I can be with my American friend.

[day & date]

To the border guard

I'm writing this letter to ask you to allow my American friend to enter Canada, I will provide him/her with accommodation, food, etc. Thank you for your co-operation

No. I write the letter of intent to show my intentions to take care of them while they are here.

Well the honest truth of it is that it's occult related and I'm trying to meet up with another practitioner.

I could easily fill out the whole thing with details of magickal evocation, hunting down elementals, psychic experiments, etc. but I don't think the border guard needs to know about any of this. It's a waste of time to talk about this shit with uninitiated people.

What kind of boring mundane shit could I fill the letter of intent up with?

They'd be staying over at my house and we'd read lots of books (border guard doesn't have to know what it is exactly we're studying, maybe I can just say "philosophy"), we'd shitpost on imageboards together, and we'll be doing tantric sex magick.

Uhhhh…

I don't know what to tell them.

>Dear border guard,

>May I humbly request you to allow my American friend to stay over at my house for a period of six months so that we could study philosophy and comparative religion as well as practice our faith as a religious minority in private without persecution. My friend will be taken care of by myself during the stay and I can guarantee that there will not be any kind of complications, and not only will I provide for her financially and feed her, I am also going to take care of her every need whether it be physical or psychological. It is a complicated issue whether the two of us are a couple, however I do believe that we have more in common than just friends. Whether that means she is my girlfriend or not, I cannot say for sure and so I humbly request that you would not display any prejudice in your decision on whether to allow her to stay with me or not based on relationship status.

>As I said, I will take care of her every need and that includes sexual needs. We have a sexual relationship, you see. My penis has seen the inside of her vagina numerous times and I am fairly certain that it will be inserted once again during this stay of hers. The penis will go into the vagina and we will both enjoy it just as much in equal proportions of time and effort, meaning that we are indeed a couple in terms of affection; but whether we are in love is a matter of debate as that would necessitate the definition of love for the purposes of this question. What is love? I will not hurt my baby. No more than I would hurt a fly. I do not hurt flies. But what is love? She does not hurt me, no more than she would hurt you. If this means we are in love and that we are lovers, then that is true. However if you consider that love is an emotion that bypasses all other emotions, then it would also bypass the law. If that was the case then I would not be writing this letter to you to ask whether or not she can stay with me for six months, I would smuggle her into the country and we would live together for the rest of our lives until the border guard would bust us and even then we would remember each other for the rest of our lives in our solitary confined prison cells. Would we? I cannot say for sure and as such I am not certain whether we are in love, if we are lovers or not.

>This should not complicate the process as it has no effect on the provision of care for her from my part, indeed it would only mean that I am even more likely to take care of her needs because I cannot know whether we will become romantically involves as well or if we will break our relationship. Thus I humbly request you to allow her to stay with me for six months so that we can study philosophy and comparative religion while practicing our faith as we are a religious minority and are afraid of persecution within the USA and would much prefer to do so in the privacy of my home in Canada.

>Sincerely, [name].

I hurt flies though…

and ummm she is my girlfriend, the only thing in question really is if we'll decide to legally marry each or not later

Also making the suggestion I might do anything illegal such as smuggling to the border guard, regardless of the context, seems like it's asking for trouble.

Would it actually help at all for me to mention if I've fugged her or not?

There is really no question of us not being in love with each other.

I only suggested that maybe I should write it up as if was merely case of friends wanting to live together, in case the borderguard might be inclined to prevent two lovers from coming together…

 No.320601

One more thing, if I mention we're going to study philosophy and comparative religion, would they ask for proof and about in what way this study would be done? They might think it's a student/university thing when it's not and that could complicate shit don't you think? Should I make it clear we're just studying that stuff independent of university/college stuff?

Dear Borders Protector,

A dear friend of mine wishes to visit our glorious nation of the beautiful maple leaf. He hails from the land of freedom, the United States of America. I wish to express to you today our intent as per regulations of our beautiful nation. I do swear on my honor as a Canadian citizen to dutifully provide for my friend's every need during the time that he stays in our great and glorious nation. I intend to furnish him with sleeping quarters and daily rations of no less than six cheeseburgers per day for each day of his six month stay. I will provide any services he requires and ensure that he knows the laws of our land, so as to keep him from getting into any trouble or confusion during his stay. I will teach him the ways and songs of our people, as is our cultural tradition. I will instruct him in basic survival of the vast and untamed Canadian wilderness, as well as how to navigate Canada's one and only road. Please consider this as a just and solemn pledge to uphold Canada's impeccable reputation for hospitality, extended to a friendly traveler who is a political ally of Canada.

Sincerely,

That's a difficult question it depends on personal opinion and exposure. I can't answer it because my Tatar skills are not great, I'm not any kind of Tatarologist, so I can only generally tell you how I see the mutual intelligibility with Turkic languages in general and hopefully do an ok job at translating the same sentence into the different Tatar languages, as well as other Turkic languages that I grasp some bits closer.

Turkic languages in general have pretty good mutual intelligibility especially in writing but it's not always easy, and there are so many branches that have interacted with different languages and have loanwords and other influence. For example I can understand Kazakh and Kyrgyz fairly well, Bashkir and Kazan Tatar a bit worse, Crimean Tatar and Uzbek not as much, Azerbaijani and Uyghur even less, Turkish and Turkmen are difficult, yet I understand Tuvan and even Yakut better from more exposure. Even as a native speaker of one of the Altai languages (or dialects for convenience), some other dialects are incomprehensible to me as they have other influences. It's roulette with Turkic languages and mutual intelligibility, I've heard some say that Tuvan for example is closer to Mongolian than any Turkic language, I don't think so personally but as a result of the geographical proximity to it and Mongolian, the common ground is like a third language. But some words mean totally different things and often treacherously similar words mean similar enough things to understand but then another word in a sentence can change the whole thing and you could end up telling somebody that you want their mother to die in a fire or some other unpleasant.

Take the simple sentence that leaves little room for the larger differences. Literally "a man dies, so he goes to a grave." But I can't guarantee anything beyond Blue Altaic and Kazakh being 100% correct. I'm not even going to try bothering with Northern Altai dialects, like I said the dialects are more different than some languages and the inadequate division to south and north is very ridiculous. There should be at least a division into northwest, northeast, southwest and southeast. The dialect I speak, "Blue Altaic" is southeastern by such division.

Blue Altaic:

Kazan Tatar:

Crimean Tatar:

Finnish Tatar:

Altai Tatar:

For comparison,

I tried these non-Turkic but they maybe wrong:

Kurdish: Инсан дьмьрә, нәтищәдә әԝ дьчә ль нав горе.

Finnish: Ихминен куолее, сиис хән хаутаан мени.

How the actual hell…? What did the ancestors before Iranian influence call graves? Or were the "sky funerals" so much more common in those days that no word for grave was even necessary?

I have no idea, but I tried to look it up and came up with:

>Proto-Turkic "üŋ-" = dig/hole

From which Kazakh үңгір, etc. come from. Doesn't mean a grave at least in Kazakh, but I googled some possible variants and apparently in some language it does because I got some graves with one of the searches. Unfortunately I forgot which and I couldn't find it again, nor did I find out which language it was… the site was .ru though I think, might've been Yakut or something.
