Sadly, ever since the Cold War military juntas went away in South America, the left uses the "remember the 300 trilion tortured and killed democratic activists!" card to expand their power.
In Brazil, a relatively small number of terrorists (contrary to the establishment narrative, most of the victims were communists trying to replace the dictatorship with another, worser dictatorship) was affected, but all the remaining gommies have now reached power and constantly complain about that era and portray everything related to it as demonic and evil. They've even established a "Justice Comission"(actually a Vengeance Comission tbh) to examine the military's crimes while ignoring how many people died in the terrorists' hands.
