As you propably know Poland was always more of a conservatist country. Since the last presidential and parlamental elections though the control over the country is held by president and parlamental majority from an extreme right-wing party.

Not long after the elections the parliament started passing laws that were not exactly consistent with our constitution. The biggest stir was caused by the changes they're trying to make in the Constitutional Court, the only organa that could somehow control them.

They also passed a law thanks to which they took control over the public television, filling it with pseudopatriotic propaganda.

Upon finding out that the Venice Commission is on the Constitutional Court's side, all the conservatists got severely butthurt, accussing EU of violating Poland's sovereignity.

Look, I neither support our current government, because they often happen to meddle "muh christian tradition" into politics, nor particularly like EU, because they pretty much fucked up during the rapefugee crisis, but right now definitely I side with EU.

Poland is the only sane country in Europe, we can't fuck that up.

AFAIK, didn't the government simply turn state media into propaganda pieces? The British government also does it through the BBC, using taxpayer money to defend the diversity agenda. The law they passed gave them control over the public tv channels there's 3 or 4 of which, so no biggie, but as soon as they got their hands on them, they started removing the shows that seemed inconvenient to them, replacing it with news reports on the investigation on the Smolensk catastrophe, tributes to the "Cursed Soldiers", and reports that cherrypick the negative information on the opposition. They can't do anything to the private stations though, which still air more or less reliable news reports.
