Hi. I posted this question in /mu/, but I will also put it here in hopes of getting more answers. My Russian is way too bad to go and ask this on DvaChan, so I guess this will have to do:

"Ok everyone, I am trying to explore Russian music and culture a bit and I'm pretty disappointed with what I have found so far. It seems like it's a really bad rip off of (at least in rock and related genres) of German, French, British, and American music.

The music just seems quite stunted.

Can someone help me find music from Russia that isn't crap or is at least interesting?

Interesting music that I have found from Russia so far is

-Dvar

-Kolovrat

-Kiborg (are they even Russian?)

-You Must Murder

-Delfin/Dolphin

-Sector Gaza (has a few interesting songs)

-TequilaJazzz

-Pyatnitsa

I've really been looking for Russian music for a while and I can't believe it's such a short list. Am I looking in the wrong places? One band is schizophrenic bees and at least three of them are far right nationalist bands….is this normal for Russia? Is creativity in music seriously that restricted to the fringe over there?

Requesting some sort of Russian music dump. Thanks!"

What were you thinking?

I know Russian classical music (and also folk music) is very VERY good, but I am also looking for newer or more modern things.

Thanks, though

Can be very good! I see the video is from Napalm Records - they have a lot of good artists!

Here is some folk metal, although kind of unrelated to the topic of the thread

Thank you for help with finding Russian music. Are you a Russian living in Portugal or proxy?

That sounds very Algarvian. Reminded me of Melechesh.

You're welcome. I'm just portuguese.

Other than pianists and metal bands, I only know some russian meme music. given this is /int/, I think I should just have posted it to begin with.

>Am I looking in the wrong places?

>Dvar

Apparently, yes. Try exploring chillout artists. Chronos, Koan, Maiia. I think they could be considered famous even outside Russia.

You may also try listening to Brother 2 soundtrack.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brother_2

Both Brother and Brother 2 are considered cult movies in Russia and kind of accurately picture the 90s. Both have a solid normie-tier soundtrack.

>Kolovrat

/pol/ the band.

>Pyatnitsa

Meh. Was a thing when I was in school and quickly disappeared.

If you've had good Russian I would suggest 2h company. It's a hip-hop group and I am generally not into this genre, but each their song is like a good sci-fi or fantasy book with good humor and interesting story, which makes it my favorite Russian group. I am not aware of anything similar. However you need exceptionally good Russian to keep up.

I've seen both Brat movies and I remember the first one having a few songs that I really liked (like the one where he is preparing his weapons)…I have found them on Youtube before but will have to find them again. Very cool instrumentals!

Surprisingly, I think that Kolovrat is quite talented. Most RAC or skinhead bands are very amateur. Did they use any of their songs for Rossiya 88?

>but each their song is like a good sci-fi or fantasy book with good humor and interesting story,

RUSSIAN KOOL KEITH?!?!?!?!

I will check out your link. Thanks for the recommendations!

It's definitely catchy and I admit I REALLY like it - but it's definitely not "good" in the sense of actually being good.

>>323086

Isn't that more or less the same ( linguistically, I mean). I thought people in Belarus almost only speak Russian now and that Belarussian is a dying language.
