This is a pirate server. That's what community voted on. Alts will always run wild. Even if they were outlawed by all means possible, you would never have a 100% proof unless used on the same IP or same network, to certain extent.

Ban evasion is a thing, and there's really no way to stop it when the server is pirate friendly.

This was discussed, and this was explained on the "Pirate friendly or not" voting.

You were all warned that Pirate Friendly means it's impossible to stop alts. From the server end, there's little diference from a legit player and an alt. So now the burden in the players. Do you suspect the person to be an alt? Maybe don't let him run everywhere, or give him acess to the resource stockpile.

I have to check Towny commands, but I remember something about ranks within towns, with some areas being acessable only by some ranks.

Anyway, this would be another reason to change to something like Securicraft. Give trusted players keycards. Suspect an alt? Don't give him the keycard. He has to work for you first for a while.

Or any other mod that does shit like that. Right now, trusting another player is pretty much binary, you either let the guy run around and do his thing or not.

Also, we don't actually need any external mod/plugin for protection. You can set up private protected vault plots in Towny that are only accessible to friends in "/resident friend" menu. It adds an additional layer of security inside a town. I explained how to do it in Q&A section.

When people are just too stupid to figure it out or to be concerned by security at all, they must pay the price. With time they'll finally learn.

The shitty part is that they'd be forking money over to microsoft at this point.

The good part is that we get rid of alts (or you can use alts, but mommy's wallet is gonna take a hit).

Of course, this would cost a bunch of players from the server. Several don't want to buy the game, and many are BR's (either in nationality or mentality) and don't buy shit, period.

This is, like the other modding thread I'm posting in a matter to be discussed later. Do we want less players but a more "stable" server (aka, an actual community) or more players for intense PVP?

My opinion is less players, since I like co-op more than I like PVP, but that's just my preference. PVP in minecraft was never something I found interesting.

These three mods solve the alt problem, access permissions in cities, and security. Pull them from Civcraft tbh, just make it so Obsidian can't be reinforced.

PrisonPearl tracks alts, if two get pearled, you're banned until unpearled.

Namelayer fixes the permission system through group reinforcements.

And bastions prevent reinforcement griefing.

Prisonpearl also resolves ban problems. Players decide if someone deserves a ban or not.

The problem is, when you get killed, there's a risk you may not go out for a very long time. This would probably cause a huge dent in playercount.

Using Prisonpearl will also imply going premium only. Also, what's the point doing this when we have CivEx and Civcraft that are already established? Our killing feature may be the world map, but it's not enough to make a difference.

PrisonPearl, reading from it's description, sounds like a very griefy tool.

Adding it to the game is a very good way to make memeraiders even more frequent since they'll be able to "loot" citizens from other places.

If you are considering mods to solve this, Security Craft handles things quite well, with blocks that only the owner can break, keypads, keycards, security cameras and more. Please take a look at it, first.

However, this seems more like a playerbase problem than anything else, and unfortunnaly, you can't mod that away.
