My main complaint, is actually not against the game, the plugins or the rules, but rather against people complaining how some people choose to play when they essentially are forced to play in that specific way.
A good example: The Hague is part of Amsterdam, it's a small town with 3 guys serving as an outpost for them. France and Norway decided to raid Amsterdamn because "they were trading with ISIS". Wether or not that's true doesn't even matter, because they knew they were outnumbered, even together so they went after the small town nearby, Hague, that still didn't even had walls or resources worth stealing. They got their asses kicked because we got some help from Amsterdam and even Russia in time. (and Koriath managed to kill someone bare fisted)
Now put yourself in that position, as a villager from the Hague. What are you gonna do? Recruit a shitton of people to bolster your forces? How if almost everyone already has a town they are playing with? It's not like you can make people show up out of nowhere, especially when we are actually reinforcements for Amsterdamn summoned by a player there, to bolster Denmark.
And there's even the problem with spies and alts, so recruiting is more likely to screw us anyway, might as well stick with our 3 man-town, stay loyal to Amsterdamn and keep on good terms with the russians.

And I see just as much "crying about the evil norse" as I see "crying about the evil NATO", although the latter is just one extremely autistic Portuguese. In the end, the norsememes aren't really the problem, it's the attitude of defeatism. We had a nice server with a great power balance until everyone and their mother allied Russia in fear of getting memeraided, instead of just fighting back. There is really no way to talk your way around this, it leads to the server dying because we all know exactly that people will get bored when 80% of the playerbase are on the same team. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm personally done with /int/craft and really don't see the point in playing anymore. If you join the Norsememes, they will get so strong that they get bored and the iteration will die. If you don't join the norsememes, you will get raided to hell and back anyway because 80% of the playerbase flock to them thanks to "muh norse boogeyman" inciting fear in the extremely autistic populace of this server. At least in Amsterdam, we don't and didn't have enough knowledge about Russia to really fear them. Maybe if we had been here a few iterations we'd see your point, but we proposed the EC solely because NATO was treating us like dogshit. Russia benefited solely from not taking a shit on us right from the get go, and the EC continues to do so just by being chill with us. Especially Poland, those lovable fucks. The reason NATO was hemorrhaging members like it was is because there is no clearly defined structure. The EC has a strong structure of leadership which is comprised of the leaders of its three core Nations, though primarily Russians and Dutchmen. The only place in NATO with any semblance of good, strong leadership was Sealand, as distasteful as I find their aggressive attitude. However, an alliance is only as solid as its leading council. While the few remaining NATO nations are bound by mutual desire to destroy the EC, the EC is brought together by its nations' desire for a unified, cooperative, and more or less peaceful Europe and Asia. Those nations that defected from NATO to join the Coalition probably weighed the options and found the EC more capable of achieving their goal than NATO.
