I'd be interesting to try a server without factions or towny and use this. Instead of having nations and towns mandated by a dedicated system it would just be a mixture of social communication and good leadership. Land wouldn't be a number of claims but how big the towns influence is on its neighbors. I'd be a sight to see towns functioning without being constrained to towny.

Also maybe premium only? To keep the shitters out?

Dark Ages? To go off the lack of formal towns of nations without the plugin

Maybe encourage more rp? Encourage rp skins (maybe make standard skin a medieval peasant or something)

Any other suggestions?

Someone posted in another thread that about 80% of the current playerbase has legit accounts. Turning premium only isn't gonna kill that many people, but it will keep shitters\alts\griefers\spawmmers out.

This in turn could bring more people, actually, if they know about it. I know one of the reasons I don't play on Civcraft is because alts are mandatory there.

If we are going with a medieval setting, then let's not use a known world at all. Give us a random world (even if hand-crafted by someone) that we can explore and populate with our own nations.

The switch to medieval stuff also means there's an oportunity to include some esoteric stuff too. There are several mods about witches and warlocks or even religions, please consider them.

I can't recommend enough Ancient Warfare. It's a nice mod that gives players the ability to hire NPC's that they can put working in farms or mines for them to automate resource collection. This is the basic feature, because you can also recruit soldiers you can command with a single item and set patrols or wargroups to assist in battle.

It's also possible to set traders with custom deals for any other player and corriers to keep items moving around.

This makes for a great way to create populated towns, automated markets and trade routes that can be raided between players.

Another suggestion is to look for plugins\mods to make some resources biome dependant, as well as expanding the size of biomes. If different towns produce different things, players will need to trade and barter with each other, as well as making wars about resources too. Snow towns could find more minerals underground, tropical towns have exotic plants and gold, forest towns have lots of animals and plants, mountain towns are rich in iron, for example.

This would probably also need that ore veins become rarer but respawn every MC day.

Add some mobs for PvE. This is an interesting part of the game that makes the night different from the day and journeys between towns different. I believe there were a few about human mobs like bandits and the like that would fit well with the theme.

here are some small scale possibilities, which bring a more tight knit, community, and i feel it would bring more dedication in players

>day-z type apocalypse, possibly a pre built city to work off of and then surrounded by forest

>auto generated zombie mobs, with improved speed and decet damage

>small regenerating buildings or shacks w/ loot

>players cant unite and claim parts of the city, for a safe hq

>1750 Euro colonialism map, pic related is the map crop

>has all major colonial powers of time - England, France, Spain, Portugal, The Dutch

>with a smaller europe, populations would be pushed out of europe and cause naturally expanding Americas and Africa

>small custom npc tribes that auto generate and explore, once you've killed them a certain amount of times or given them money, that tribe becomes your ally, and you can buy mercenaries to follow you to battle

>many rp friendly wars come along, Revolutionary war, Anglo- Cherokee War, War of First Coalition

I'd rather not return to ancient times as we have these cool new guns and such that i know mons put a decent amount of time into, and every past iteration has been largely in ancient times. I had an idea which was basically cold war RP. A few guns would need to be replaced but most of the plug in could remain the same and the cold war era has some neat possibilities.

It doesn't prevent 1-Man towns, though. Just makes it desirable to join the same town as some else instead.

And considering how a lot of people like war and PvP so much, that's another reason it won't be accepted.

It also restricts the game to a Dark Ages setting, which ain't bad in itself unless we want to play on any other time period.
