What country you haven't been yet would you like to travel to if time and money were no issues? Explain why you would choose especially that country over others.

I would like to visit Georgia it some point. It looks like a beautiful country and I would like to go there before it gets too "western". I also have a boner for mountains.

Pre-crash, 70s Tokio sounds like a pretty cool and interesting time.

Fuck, when I'm completely done with my studies, I'd like to just go travelling for a year. And if there are no issues, I'd like to go to Mongolia. But I'm just as interested in the way there as in the final destination.

In reality Mongolia is a pretty dismal country. It was a glorious empire once upon a time, but that time is long in the past. By today's standards, Mongolia is one of the most outdated nations. Tribal justice systems are still more influential in remote regions than the government; I don't know if this is good or bad since the government is highly corrupt and is no stranger to human rights abuses, but in the remote regions practices like corporeal punishment, cannibalism and child-abandonment are still relatively common. While there technically is democracy, most people have no say in any matters because they live in isolation from the rest. Religious freedom is non-existent in certain rural parts of the country and non-Buddhists are universally frowned upon with a few exceptions. Ethnic minorities are in many places subject to limitations on food, water, healthcare and education. In the past, Mongol women had equal status to men, but nowadays women in Mongolia are about as oppressed as they are in Saudi Arabia. One in three women is likely to become a victim of violent sexual crime, especially in the countryside, and as we all know that's pretty much all there is. Although homophobia in its usual definition doesn't exist, homosexuality is widely considered "just a phase" and gays are regarded as funny and immature.

Unfortunately, this post is Mongolia in a nutshell. It's still a great country because of its history and nature, but the Mongolia everyone thinks of when they think of Mongolia is gone forever. I always thought Mongolia is one of the most religiously tolerant and heterogenous countries though?

Well I'm looking for vast wilderness and nature, also this is why I said I'm just as interested in way there. I don't really care if it's a shithole, I don't like tidy orderly places that much anyway, and it's also more exciting that way.

To return on topic, I'm thinking about hiking to Mongolia more or less along the Russia-China border. How should I prepare?

>hiking to Mongolia more or less along the Russia-China border.

Good luck.

>How should I prepare?

First you must understand that what you're thinking of doing is impossible. Then you must accept that it's impossible and grow up. You can't hike from Kazakhstan to Mongolia along the border because the border region is very mountainous so you'd have to climb, as in you'd need all the gear for mountaineering and you'd also have to get a professional to go with you because it's very dangerous as fuck. If you are sure you want to go alone, make sure to tell as many people as you can where you're going and make sure they'll be reachable by phone if you get arrested. And yes, you will get arrested even if you have all the proper permits to cross the borders however you wish because the Chinese government gives no fucks. On the Russian side you can explain yourself away most likely since you're Kazakh, maybe on the Chinese side too since many Kazakh live there, but good luck if the Chinese Chinese border security catch you. You'll be handcuffed, thrown in a cell that's colder than Natalia's cunt and left there until somebody comes pick you up. Now that's the best outcome assuming you get caught. There are also Uyghur terrorists, and if they get you, you might just end up being held hostage or killed. Not only that, there are the nameless cannibal clans who will eat you if they catch you, most people consider them an urban legend to keep people from illegal border crossings but they're real. Hiking through the forested valleys by the rivers is not a solution unless you want your little trip to take a week, a month or even more because it's easily going to be 300 kilometres and you might get lost. There's no cell service a lot of places, no internet, you can't check Google Earth to locate yourself by landmarks as if there were any, and some maps of the region are not very reliable. Print a bunch of close ups of Google Earth, make them into a book and take that with you at the least. Also make sure you have a lot of water and food with you, you can hunt and drink from rivers but you shouldn't resort to that unless you absolutely have to because you never know how many animals and people have taken a shit in the rivers. The border guards might also take you back to the Kazakh border if you're lost or they think you're lost, and I'm fairly certain you'd have to pay them for wasting time and resources on your bullshit. I've heard that the Chinese guards are actually likely to just plain and simple shoot you if they think you're smuggling drugs, then again there aren't many guards at all so it's also likely to be a result of that to use too much force.

Comrade Russianon, I think you've mistakenly swallowed the content pill without swallowing the context pill. If you're referring to the fringe of "black shamans" that eat human flesh, they only do it in a handful of rituals and it's people who were already dead, and at funerals. They also don't share the meat with random people, just the family of the deceased IIRC.

>everything else in that post

Thanks, noted.

Czech republic, I've always had a strong fascination with forests since I have never grew up around them.
