Shetland islands. The nature, scenery and historic sites were top notch. The weather ain't great though, and the island is spread out more than you'd think so a car or maybe tour is a pretty good idea.
Can't deny muhheritage didn't play a large part. There's something pretty special about seeing the ruins of the haaf station (basically a settlement for fishermen, smoking and salting fish) and seeing the ruins of the exact one that belonged to one of your ancestors a few hundred years back.
