It's always been like this really. Starting an /ipcam/ thread on /b/ tends to raise interest levels and can actually be preddy gud fun m8.

after fooling around with different ipcams it kinda looses the fun after awhile. you can easily spend hours doing this only to find a handful of actually interesting/worthwhile cams.
i still stop by time to time to see if any new/good webms/yt links pop up.
