You have to enable unsigned ActiveX controls (well, set them to prompt) in IE's internet settings. Go to Security, Custom, then the ActiveX section.
You can pipe sound through the camera in a few different ways. Some programs let you pipe the output to the input rather than your speakers and so on fairly easily.
A ghetto way to do it is to turn off sound observation on the camera, then play your music loud in your headphones, put the headphones up to the mic, and record. If you have earbuds this works pretty well, because the sound is so targeted.
When you use IE ActiveX, make sure to reboot the camera when you're done, because it's unlikely you're using any other security methods if you are watching video, receiving audio and transmitting audio halfway across the world without problems.
Even if you just use the ActiveX mode for listening to audio, it adds a lot to the experience…
