With an anon you cannot tell when it is the same anon posting, so they can post good and bad posts and you won't know. With a tripfag they try to have an identity, become well known, and combined with the archive they can start following around mentions of their name and feed off the attention.
When someone uses a trip to contribute something, anons usually don't have a problem because they're using it for a purpose other than "hey look at me!". Even if they are still contributing for that purpose, people will give them positive attention for giving back something to the community.
