I am a catholic and some feeling is bringing me or making me more interested in Islam, but apparently there is a alot of contradictions in the qur'an but so many scientific answers in there too? I was also wondering if how can Jesus be a Muslim if Islam was made 600 or only found old documents non before year 600 years after his death? Why do Sunni's and Shiites hate each other? And my last question why are the laws of Islam so violent? I mean stoning for adultery, decapitating hands for stealing, execution for people leave Islam, non Muslims have to pay a tax so they don't get killed etc. I will try to get my hands on a qur'an soon but I want to ask these unanswered questions.

Okay first of all welcome fellow australian.

Secondly, the ripped dude in the picture is actually a Sikh.

Now we get those out of the way i will try to answer these questions as best i can.

Jesus (صلى الله عليه و سلم) is a prophet of Islam. Even though western thought considers Islam to be the newest of the abrahamic faiths, its actually the oldest. In its simplest form, Islam is the belief in one God, by any name, and his prophets, both named (such as Moses and Jesus pbht), or unnamed (some believe Buddha and zorasthura belong in this catagory).

Contradiction? Um.. These are usually found by so called experts who have an agenda and no sense of context.

As for violence. Well thats simple yet complex. Simple answer, Islam is not violent. Complex answer, could be better explained in person. Too long and complex for me to type at 12am. One example may be "honour killings". They're unheard of in Islamic law. Iirc they are a Desi thing. Not just muslim but often Hindu and Sikh. Its also not a part of their religions but it happens. But any time a Muslim kills, its reported as an honour killing. I remember back in maybe 2009 some Turkish dude killed his daughter. To the news editors it wasnt important that the guy had a history of mental illness or that he'd been mixing and matching his medication. What was importwnt was he was from a Muslim country and therefore Islam made him do it. See what i mean?

You're an ausfag so maybe you're familiar with the recent jared bayden-clay case? Notice his beliefs are not mentioned? Its because there is nothing to be gained by telling you about them

like?

> how can Jesus be a Muslim if Islam was made 600 or only found old documents non before year 600 years after his death?

All the Prophets were Muslim. A Muslim is someone who submits to the will of Allah.

>Why do Sunni's and Shiites hate each other?

This can be a long discussion. We (I am Sunni) have conflicting beliefs. Shiites have ill feelings towards some of the closest companions of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم). Not only do we feel they lack authentication, the larger sect of Shiite border on shirk (calling on intercessors and elevating the status of their Imams).

>why are the laws of Islam so violent?

You have read Deuteronomy and Leviticus right?

Deuteronomy and Leviticus are still seen as cruel, and Christians and Jews have distanced themselves from those rules in different ways. They are embarrassing to Christians they aren't proud of them. They refer to the new covenant and how its much more forgiving and less violent now

Because we don't shy away from our militant side. We don't skip bits because they "might offend someone".

Islam has many parts and each part is required for the whole. If someone gave you a sandwich, but left off the bread, then all you've got is meat in your hands with mustard.

It's to show how heinous the crime is. Also to discourage individuals from doing said crime as well. contrary to popular belief, the accused is to go through a trial system before punishment any form of punishment is given out.

Furthermore, Islam is fundamentally different from western values, in which it prioritize the community over the individual. Thus, crimes to the average westerner that seems small might be considered much greater in the eyes of a Muslim.

Adultery, for example, effects those around them than the participants themselves. Children, the one cheated on, birth of a b*stard child, and so forth. So it gets a harsh punishment which, iirc was 100 lashes. Stoning is only for repeat offenders.

Theft stemmed purely form one person's greed is punished by the removal of the hand. Theft out of necessity is not punished at all, and if anything there will be a case against those who pushed them to that point.

Jizya the tax thing is the same as every other tax. Try not paying your taxes this year or ask your mom not too and see what your government does. It's only applicable to adult, able-bodied non-Muslims who do not want to participate in the army. We are not forcing you to fight and die for us in events that may occur due to religious reasons, but since we are also trying to prevent them from blowing up your house, a little compensation seems fair. Muslims kinda have a tax in the form of Zakat. A muslim is expected to give back the community, we have no such requirement from non-Muslims.

too tired to explain the rest, I'll finish answering the rest if I remember this thread.

>I came not to bring peace, but a sword

That's a highly misquoted verse, you know. Jesus(صلى الله عليه و سلم) was referring to a spiritual sword, not a physical one. He meant he was bringing Jihadi Akbar, the jihad of self-reformation, a struggle against one’s own passions.

No. In the parallel verse in the gospel of Luke, Jesus says he came not to bring peace but division. He is talking about the fact that christians would suffer persecution from their relatives and friends.

>>11199

That's part of the struggle. Muslim converts often struggle with persecution from relatives and friends.
