I would say the majority of people who are out to criticize Islam have no interest in the truth or what we actually have to say. 95% of conversations i've had with people boil down to this:
>Let me tell YOU what you believe!
>I'm arguing louder therefore im right
>I'll repeat the question until you get tired of my [foul language] and give up, thus making me the winner (i call this the dawkins tactic)
>anything you say that proves me wrong is taqiya (as i choose to define it)
Usually these arguements assume two major things. Firstly that Muslims are a homogenous group with telepathic minds we use to co-ordinate a somehow commonly understood but apparently vague aim of Islam.
Secondly that the entire aim of arguing isnt to get to a truth. Its all about winning.
So why bother? I think the funniest thing i've ever heard was that Muslims wanted to change the Australian flag. As in all Muslims, in spite of existing in Australia 150 years + suddenly and collectively decided we want to change the flag. Like… [foul language]ing why? So much why. But its the perfect example of what im talking about.
