>that feel when the Galil is not standard Issue
anyone /k/ enough to explain to me why that is?
The IDF uses almost entirely Israeli weapons like the Negev and the Tavor, why do we insist on using the outdated m16a1?
I know mah America is one of those reasons but are there any other?

>>1239I'm willing to bet its because of a shitty treaty
We got a bunch of M16A1s from a treaty in the 90s
Now some of the forces use that burger rifle, others the FAL, others the AUG, a few the G36 and some of the special forces are getting the FN2000
Again, treaties

Argentinebro is right. The Galil was ready for adoption in the early 1970s, at the same time that Israel got a bunch of surplus M16s literally for free. Jews being jews could not pass up the freeness of the M16s, and so started using those instead of the Galil.
Also, the Galil is equally 'outdated' to the M16. The Tavor is replacing both of those because it's just superior. If it makes you feel any better, the Tavor is pretty much a moderinzed Galil in a fancy new plastic casing.
