SYDNEY–Foreign and defense ministers of Japan and Australia agreed here to swiftly sign a pact to make cooperation between their armed forces easier.

Full agreement will be sought when Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull visits Japan next month. By signing the treaty, Japan will essentially become a "quasi-ally" with Australia, allowing the Self-Defense Forces to significantly strengthen their ties with the Australian armed forces in various fields, including unit management and equipment. Both Japan and Australia are allied with the United States.

The pact will be Japan's first mutual status of forces agreement, which legally defines how a foreign military force operating in another country is handled. This will determine what local laws the troops will be exempt from, including the handling of accidents and crimes, the movement of military vehicles on public roads and frequencies of radio bandwidths to use during exercises.

Such an agreement will allow for the two armed forces to hold joint exercises and dispatch units for disaster relief purposes. The two nations will be able to conduct joint drills on Japanese territory without the bother of implementing special procedures.

Hey /japan/, the faggots over at /a/ are making a share project against TPP and we would like your help

The fuck's this shit and why should I care?

As you should you the TPP will fuck over pirating and copyright everyfuckingthing.

To counter it we started this, our plan is to hoard shit pre-TPP and then share it around with I2P.

What do I do?

We are still planning shit, so there are four things you can do right now

>hoard shit

To share it afterwards. Manga, japanese series, korean cartoons, anything goes.

>download I2P

Might as well get used to it now

>Suggest shit and help in the board

>>>/eternalarchive/

>spread it around

We need as many anons on this as possible, contact other small boards and chans.

Why I2P?

Because it's TOR on steroids. It's safer than TOR, it has more features(such as torrenting) and it's newer meaning that is isn't called pedo net 2.0 yet.

Why bother, TPP won't do shit

Odds are it will, but even if it doesn't there will be a new TPP. Companies are "losing money" with all these pirates, do you think they won't try to fuck us over each chance they get? We are now doing what we already should have had: preparing for the worst. Even if nothing happens next year, what's to say that it wont happen the year after?

Why /japan/?

Nips are already getting fucked by copyright laws, the TPP will only fuck you further, so we are hoping this will help the nips browsing this board as much as the rest of us. Also pls, bring doujinshis.

Japan ranked 101st among 145 countries with regard to gender equality in a new survey, up three notches from last year, but still the worst of all Group of Seven industrialized nations.

The Global Gender Gap Report 2015 was released Nov. 19 by the World Economic Forum, known for its Davos meeting in Switzerland.

However, the gender gap worsened in Japanese workplaces. That was because the wage disparity widened, even though a higher ratio of women took part in the work force. Although the number of female workers is increasing, many of them are nonregular employees whose wages are kept low.

Hachiko, the faithful Akita dog immortalized in a bronze statue in front of Tokyo's JR Shibuya Station, now has a companion: a live cat

After a while, a man wearing a black T-shirt approached the cat and picked it up in front of puzzled onlookers. He then walked off with it toward a subway entrance at the busy rail hub.

The man, 67, said the cat, a 5-year-old male, is one of about 30 felines he keeps at his home in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture. A huge cat lover since childhood, the man said his collection includes some he has taken in from his neighbors.

In June, the retiree from a Tokyo publishing company began traveling to Shibuya about four times a month, taking one of his cats in a carrier with him. He lets the cat stay at the foot of the statue for about an hour.

“I would like my cat to give comfort to people,” he said, explaining his motivation. “If foreign tourists take pictures of my cat with the statue and post them online, then people who see them may feel like visiting Japan.

Although his efforts to console others have apparently achieved the intended effect, the man's unusual behavior has drawn criticism on the Internet.

Some people posted comments expressing concern about the cat spending so much time in a crowded public space, while others called it outright “animal abuse.”

“I am aware of criticism, but it is only expected that there are pros and cons,” he said. “If there are people who find comfort in the presence of my cat, I would like to continue to bring one.”

The Defense Ministry said Thursday that a Chinese Navy ship was found to have sailed near the Japanese-controlled Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.

The Dongdiao-class intelligence-gathering ship did not enter Japanese territorial waters around the islands, but repeatedly sailed from east to west and vice versa near Japan’s contiguous zone outside the territorial waters, according to the ministry.

A Chinese ship had never shown such abnormal movements before, it said. The Self-Defense Forces are carefully monitoring the situation, ministry officials said.

The government has informed the Chinese side through diplomatic channels that Tokyo is watching the incident with close attention.
