How often do people bring omiyage to other people's houses when visiting? I don't see it in anime and manga a lot, but I don't wanna offend anyone if I go to visit by bringing nothing.

>>1721 as for Japan, we usually bring some omiyage to our family, relatives, friends etc. though,
but it feels to me that it's not that rare to also give those to neighbours.

>>1721 >I don't see it in anime and manga a lot That's because omiyage is a social obligation and modern animoo is a giant hugbox designed to help you shirk those kinds of things, so you have more time to give your money/bandwidth to media corporations while fawning over six year old girls.
Also, your question was a little vague - what's your situation? Are you heading to Japan for a brief visit from Kangarooland?

>>1729 Alright. I just found it kinda weird that I've NEVER seen it in said anime/manga.
I'm not going to Japan any time soon, but I wanted to know in advance incase the situation ever arose.

So when should I bring one? Are there any times where I don't need to or shouldn't?

Bring when visiting for the first time, after not seeing the person in a while, from a long way away, when coming back from a trip, or if you'll be staying over, or there are some particular circumstances like they're your parents-in-law to-be. Just popping in to see somebody, no point.
