ok guys.
I wanna learn japanese, but my main obstacle is lack of vocabulary (kanjis and words).

I tried rossetta stone, anky and memrise, but is so fucking lame and boring.

I would love to see if there's some cool android game for little kids to learn japanese, like a real basic game.

I dunno, maybe a shump where the enemy is a word in kanji and when they explode they showcase a picture.

I guess I should do my own apk in unity, but I was curious if there is anything I can look up on the android store.

Try listening to music and doing Tae Kim, it works for me and it's not so boring. Either that or just read mangos and search the kanji you don't know. I don't find either of those boring, but then again I go full autist mode when studying japanese.

I don't think there's any like that. There's one that I know of that's time based, it shows an english word on top, few kanjis and you need to guess the right one, don't really recommend it since it doesn't teaches the reading but it's there if you want it.

Your main obstacle is that you don't actually want to learn Japanese. Buy a textbook and work from cover to cover. If you can't have that you don't have the motivation to get anywhere; you'll buggerise around with stupid autistic games and never learn much of anything.

 No.2435

Get IRL friends who are also learning Japanese. Speak it with them whenever you can, try to use as much vocabulary as you can.

As for kanji, the only way to learn is practice, practice, practice. If you're not willing to regularly sit down for an hour or two and write kanji, then you're not willing to learn Japanese. Plain and simple. At least written Japanese.

When I finally move out, I'm thinking of making a /japan/ club for this purpose. Frankly I'm getting tired of staring at the computer, or the textbooks while alone. Language is for communication. It's supposed to be alive.

Poo poo. I suppose you like musical theatre, too.

What kind of autist thinks being shut up alone in a quiet room with a textbook is how you achieve fluency in a foreign language?

 No.2453

Fluency, especially vocal one? Probably no. But you can learn everything you need to know. That a very important of it.

I've spent a year of my life home-staying with Japanese families while studying at a high school, and a further half-year on exchange at a top Japanese university. I'm not advocating for autistic robot solitude.

Simply put, formal classes and actual immersion are the way to go. Spending time with other non-native speakers (beginners at that) in an unstructured environment because you want to bring the language "alive" is a recipe for disastrous faggoty bullshit.

So returnee and Japanese major? Good for you. Not all of us had the opportunity or want to invest that much into learning Japanese. A casual environment dedicated to learning Japanese sounds comfy and is more of what I want at this point in my life.

>Japanese major

Not even close.

>Not all of us had the opportunity

Bull shit, unless you're comatose or homeless or living in Bongo-Bongo Land.

>want to invest that much

Now this I can understand. After all, as I said over two months ago, your main obstacle is that you don't actually want to learn Japanese.

It's not the best way, but it's enough to surpass a native's vocabulary and grammar.

 No.2476

I don't want to make a new thread, so I will kind of shitpost in this one.

Why so dead, /japan/? Seems like you had some more active times, or did /a/ and /jp/ steal all the activity or something?
