Take into account most of the 四字熟語 are taken from Chinese. Some 漢語 are an extract from an older story, such as 矛盾 (contradiction) made from "spear" and "shield." This came from an old story in which a guy was selling both the strongest spear and the strongest shield in the world (to which some fag asked "So what happens if you pierce your shields with your spears?")
