well, our situation is not as simple as that.
Most colombians want the peace, we even did an international day for peace with colombian manifestations on diferent countries about the peace.
Problem is that the violence here is not as simple as you may though.
Pre 1940 violence was political between the two main parties (conservadores - liberales).
Thanks to that violence and after the bogotazo, the guerrilla (FARC) was born thanks to the no existant goverment forces on far away places, they used marxism to convert ideologically the places they use to go (towns in the middle of fucking nowhere in the middle of mountains) or at least in the begginings.
Problem is, we got drugs in the 70 with Pablo escobar who waged a war against the goverment, he even payed 1k per polician and soldier dead.
Shit was fucked up in the 80 with full blown up terrorism by pablo escobar (something like Mexico today).
So, the guerrilla started to become a criminal organization in the 90, mass kidnapping people for political gains or just money, selling and making drugs, making terrorism attack, mass killing people, asking for vacunas (extortion) to bussiness man and ganaderos (people who breed cattle).
Thanks to them the ganaderos armed their own forces, which became the self defence forces who started a full blown war against the guerrilla.
the self defence forces (auto defensas AUC) used to go to towns and mass kill guerrilla (FARC) supporters (stuff like giving food or water to guerrilleros.
The military didn't fought AUC because they were fighting the guerrilla.
Problem is, the auto defensas also became another criminal organization.
We even got so much problems, that in 1999 the president Pastrana gave them two states (no police, no military there) in the peace negotiations with the guerrilla.
Shit failed hard and just made the guerrilla stronger (around 10k fighters), the guerrilla even took by force some small cities in the middle of the jungle (Mitu 1998).
So, Pastrana asked USA for help and USA gave us money, equipment, training.
That's why other latinos call us the bitch of USA.
The next president (Uribe) that run from 2002 to 2008 was really based, he is a right wing president and really just said to the military: just give me results, I don't care about money.
So, the military got really stronger and just blowned up the fuck out of guerrilla faggots.
There was monetary incentives for killing guerrilleros.
But is not like 1k military soldiers in jail for falsos positivos (killing inocents).

The guerrilla are just faggots, they started new peace negotiations with last president (Santos) and keep doing terrorist attacks and blown up the infraestructure.

Also they now attack in small groups (5-8 guerrilleros) and do fast attacks.

Fuck guerrilla.
