How can I make reading the manga appealing to otherwise relatively normal fags who wouldn't usually go out of their way to read source material? I worry that I may be creating anime-only fags

Otherwise you're right.
I would say that they should read all of parts one and two, and skip all of part three up until Iggy the fool and N'dol, since all of the stands before that are really boring and not really that fun. The anime is pretty close to the manga anyway, and it just started it's break, so every episode out now should be up to right after they enter egypt. I would suggest they do just watch the anime up to the current episode in part 3, and then start on the manga, skip part three up until egypt, and they'll be in the best part in the series in a few weeks.

the fact that they were being heavy on the "NO WEAKNESSES GUIZ" and buffing both the main characters and the enemies was nonsense and just heavily boring. The anime does a good job of compressing it all into about 12 hours with moving pictures so you don't feel bored as fuck.

Tell them about the crazy shit that happens later on, people turning into snails, how the solutions to big problems is launching them into space, how a protagonist has 4 testicles, try explaining them King Crimson and GER.
Just be enthusiastic, people will be more inclined to pick up something if you make it sound good or interesting.
Finally, if they want to get into JoJo but dont want to bother with the manga (big mistake but it happens) tell them to watch the anime and if they like it recommend the manga.
