European countries seem to have a bigger market for comics, especially France/Belgium/Germany. They get American, Nip and European (both west and east) so there's quiet a variety.
I think Italians have the entire thing translated as well.

If they had actually started with part 1, I think it could have taken off much earlier in the english speaking parts of the world. There would still be the problem of it being a magnet for lawsuits in the US, but I still blame part skipping. Just because it worked for DBZ it doesn't mean it'll work on anything.
