So after being an anime only fag I decided to start reading the Manga. I finished Part 4 and loved it and I've started Part 5. The issue is I've run out of the new translations/scans and have started reading the new ones. I've heard that the old scans are pretty bad and remove alot of the personality of the characters so I was wondering if it would be better to skip it for now and wait for the better translations or are the Old Translations good enough that I shouldn't need to skip?

If you read the old translations you'll understand the story and what's going on but it's just a lot of little badly translated moments that add up.
I'm not one for skipping parts and the new translation will probably take a while, though reading it as it is now could colour that part poorly for you (because it's pretty good).
Really it's up to you. If you skipped Part Five, there isn't going to be something major in Part Six you won't understand. It's rather self-contained.
You should know that the beginning of Stone Ocean does have poor scans as well but it's mostly image quality over anything else, it isn't a huge amount and iirc a translation group is working on it (or it's the group who's doing Part Five who said they'd do it afterwards).

>>523I had same issue, at this point I assume the anime will hit part 5 before the translators, so I'll part 6 it
