As bad as people say this movie is, I just think it's utterly baffling that only those filmgoers 8 years ago legally laid eyes on it.

I mean, The Last Airbender was shit and it still got released onto DVD and all that.

If this kind of thing can surface in the hands of a college student and his instructor, anything's possible I suppose. What do you think?

This is one of the few comic-based movies that tanked so hard even the creator went out of his way to prevent it from being released (the other movie being the live action Devilman). Araki was really pissed over this movie whereas the Avatar guys didn't give two shits.

Most of the negativity I've heard over this movie is due to things being cut, which is kind of a necessity when you're editing something down to movie length.

The problem with the cutting was that it removed a lot of crucial characters while ruining some of the bigger supports like Speed Wagon (who was crucial to Phantom Blood). Araki really hated the movie.
