Yeah, I'm not fond of it either, I'm glad they kept the Revenant and the Cacodemon, but most of the other monster designs are incredibly generic and boring.
Also how they changed Doomguy into a halo-esque armored suit is ass. I can understand needing to upgrade it a bit for modern technology, but even Halo did a better job as they kept Meister Chef's iconic look while updating his armor throughout the entire series. The new Doomguy, like the demons is generic looking and not recognizable at all.
>more gore
Nah, Doom doesn't need more gore, and if anything all the added gore from the Brutal Doom mod is what gave people a bad misconception about what made Doom Doom, the whole RIP AND TEAR didn't help either. It's fine for it to be there, and to be used in the environment for the most hellish landscapes, but it shouldn't be the focus
>hellish environments
Yup, I'm a bit worried for the moment as their version of hell seems to be just rocky caverns and crevices and probably won't vary much, when there should huge open plains as well and all sorts of need imagery that really set in stone that you're in hell.
But to pretty much boil it all down to a single point, it looks disappointing artwise because it just looks so generic.
