Would anyone be interested in having a little bookclub here?
Simply review the last thing you read. Books, VN, Manga, wikipedia articles, anything goes.
The only thing I'd like you to not review is this post

I just read the wiki article on drifting.
5/10 I didn't understood shit, but it had some rad pics.

I'm reading Practical Electronics for Inventors and it's ok. It's hard to grasp the concepts without actually trying it out on the breadboard so imma order some parts

I just read this anons post, it was pretty interesting.
He gave a fair rating to the article "Drifting", which I reviewed myself afterwards and it is pretty average.
I also like that he admits his personal flaws, very brave of him.
I agree with how he said the pictures are the best part of the article, yet he forgot to mention that there is also a video featured there.
Overall rating 6.3/10, would probably not re-read.

I have started Overlord after the anime to it ended. So far, its a pretty fun read. Although I have to say, that the characterization is pretty slow. I am not far enough into it to judge whether the LN is better than the Anime, because the things described in the first chapter are identical to the first half of the first episode.

I just realized something.
Most people who believe in a religion never even read the scriptures.
Does that make them filthy secondaries who only joined the fandom for the hype?

I borrowed a Warhammer 40k book from the library but it's boring and it turned out to be some shitty fanfiction.
I'll return it tomorrow and see if I can find a book about german folkslore

Overlord is really fun. I thought the anime was kind of dumb, but it glosses over a lot of the finer details of the light novels and omits a bunch of tiny details that foreshadow future story arcs and surprises. I need to track down the drama CDs so I can find out what happened in them.
Also I finally caught up with ShIndex after the boss rush. I know it is just a filler story and set up to a new arc, but honestly it isn't as fun as the Odin arc. High Priest was amusing but it got kind of boring when the last book was just Touma doing tricks on his bike. The only redeeming part was Misaka finally being told how useless she is, maybe now she will step aside and let her little sisters and Will-tan take their proper place as FeMC.

Maybe you could try going to a public library.
They have such a calm and quiet atmosphere that really motivates me to browse around and read random books.
And even if you meet strangers they are not going to talk to you, because they are there for the same reason as you. To quietly read books

the last time i went to a library, i couldnt relax and focus on reading because i was so worried about moving around, making sound and disturbing the other people

I'm reading Dracula. It's written in the form of letters sent amongst the main character and his associates, and in journal entries. It's got a scary mystery feel to it which I like a lot.

I can't do libraries myself; every little noise catches my attention and I get lost in thoughts brought up by every sentence I read, sending myself on internal rants that can make a single page last half an hour. I find that audiobooks are best for getting into the habit of reading (though I suppose you don't actually read,) but I still get thoughts that demand I pause the recording and play them out in my head.

I just finished reading God's Terrorists, about the rise of radical towelheads and the roots of their philosophy. It's interesting, but awfully dry and expects you to be familiar with the Middle-East or do a lot of background research. Also Arab names are a goddamn deep magic.

I read a webmanga called rorimeshi about a little girl who eats lunch at unexpected and unlolilike places during school lunch hours. It's pretty cute and uses easy to understand Japanese. I really feel like I've seen something similar to the mangaka's art style before in an h-doujinshi somewhere but I'm not sure.

Sorry I can't help you. The blushing, teary eyes, quivering mouth, and slight drooling are distinctly drawn but they don't match up with my mental archive.
The mouth in particular seem pretty unique in the way he uses it to express. Very rarely does it form a completely enclosed shape.

Gifting this Wonderful World with Blessings is pretty gosh darn funny. It is your typical light novel trash but it does the same old stupid shit in interesting ways. It is getting and adaptation though so I don't hold much hope up for it. If it gets popular the author will end up changing it to accommodate the new rush of fans, if it doesn't get popular he will change it hoping to attract new fans. Why can't the slant eyed yellow monkeys just learn to leave well enough alone?

There's a bunch of myths about monsters or ghostdogs preying on wanderers.
One day some guy was wandering from one town to another to sell his goods, that's when he spotted a dog.
He thought that it may have been his dog that ran away from him a while ago, so he called out to it.
The dog actually came towards him then, but it grew bigger and bigger as it drew closer, bigger than a horse even. That guy got scared and ran away.
There are also a bunch of stories about dogs or monsters jumping on the backs of wanderers, and they only go away once you pass a certain point or once you say a certain spell to banish it

Today I started reading a book about short stories from norse mythology called "Ragnarök".
It's not a very long book so I feel like most of it is being kept simple and shallow, which isn't a bad thing but I bet there is lots more cool stuff that they don't mention.
It also contains that fabled story of Loki turning himself into a horse in order to get fucked which I've heard so much about, to my surprise his motivation for this was a lot more reasonable than what I've expected.
Overall norse gods seem like reasonable people, unlike greek gods who just do stupid shit all the time for no reason

Nope, it's just the stories retold in easy to understand german, I guess this is the equivalent of pop science for mythology?

I finished the Ragnarök book, their end was really tragic, but just because the gods were so stupid.
This time I borrowed a book about keltic fables, I only read 1 page so far but it already mentioned some king killing a other king to get his territory, his daughter and his queen just because.
It's kind of horrifying
