I have an entire deep freezer full of it. I tend to eat it on a regular basis in fact I had too much when I went hunting last year, so I gave it away to people I know.

Elk is probably the best tasting of game meat, followed closely by buffalo then moose and deer tie for third place.

When I clean the animal in the field I leave those behind for the bears and wolves in the area. It keeps them away from my camp after I drag my kill back there. It is not pleasant when a bear takes your kill.

You are good at hunting!
I've eaten deer meat once before, and it was delicious.
I like it but we can’t have it easily in Japan.
The number of restaurants that provide it is not so many…

Wild animals here are very large, especially Moose who if they choose to do so can destroy a vehicle very quickly and easily. Usually I have two "tags" for an animal and those two animals end up filling my freezer alongside any fish I get that year.
>>159
When I go hunting, I tend to take three weeks time, if I end up getting my game under that time I end up going home a little early. When I say make a camp I go into a very isolate area and find a spot where I feel it is safe to set up and I have a good feel that there is game nearby. The only people you in this area see are Forestry service men and Native Americans on the very rare occasion.

I go every year if I can.

Oh I forgot to add, no restaurants sell game meat on the menu, so it is generally hunters and their friends who eat it.

Elk liver kinda taste like cow liver but not as fatty, it is the best I can describe it.

It takes half day in mountain area.

> Wild animals here are very large

Are you a professional hunter? And how do you convey game meats to your house? I imagined "camp" means "camping in a tent", not "camping in a car", right? You said you leave their organs there, this implies you dismantle animals there, but their meats are too much to convey in your hands or stomach.

f0db52 No.164

>>163
I wouldn't call myself a professional, I have a job, I just take time off so I may feed myself for the rest of the year. Sometimes I go with my grandfather who does go after furbearing animals as well as normal game meat like Deer etc. Hunting larger animals in a huge area sometimes takes days to find them or their weekly path they tend to roam in.

I do sleep in a tent but I drive a truck up an old logging road until I find roads that branch off to former logging sites and set up camp at the end of it, so I have my tent and various tarps set up so if it rains I have lots of dry space. So yes camp is where all my stuff is including my tent.

How I convey the meat back to my home is I bring a small trailer that is long and sturdy enough to hold my game. When I do make my kill I gut it immediately for the organs start to rot immediately after death, after that is done I drag the hollowed out carcass back to camp so I may skin it as quickly as I can for the hide does not let the meat cool down quick enough, if I leave the hide on too long the meat will get a bad taste by the time I can have it butchered. From there is a matter of getting it to a game meat cutter where someone butchers it for me for a very fair price.

Smaller game like Rabbits and Grouse I tend to gut and skin in one sitting then later eat that night. I will admit that is one large rabbit in that photograph, I don't think I've seen a wild snowshoe hare that big. It has a very nice looking pelt.

00b61d No.165

>>164
>Sometimes I go with my grandfather
That's good. Our hunters are too old to get rid of harmful deer, so this is becoming a problem.

> I drag the hollowed out carcass back to camp

But elk is 300kg, it's not impossible, but hard.

> I don't think I've seen a wild snowshoe hare that big. It has a very nice looking pelt.

Once I posted this picture in KC, German biologist said the same thing. But I think the hare is not big, but our lady is small.

f0db52 No.166

>>165
With the organs removed it lightens it quite considerably, but yes they are heavy, always have to have someone with you or better yet a quad bike. Oneself must always plan on how to get the kill out before the kill. Work smart not hard.

How big!
Even Japanese deer, much smaller than moose, can destroy a car easily.
If Moose hits a car, he destroys not only a car but also a person who are in that car…
Your freezer also must be big!

>>162
>Elk liver kinda taste like cow liver but not as fatty
I want to try.

I like hunters who eat their game actually after hunting. And you seem so.
However in Japan sometimes hunters don't do so, because they shoot a deer in order only to decrease the number of deer that increased too much.(It is called "Harmful birds and beasts capture")
unfortunately almost all of them don't have any marketing route like you, but they have to hunt.

I wish there were more shops that buy their game easily.

I know in many places in the United States they have to cull deer because they wiped out most of the predator population (Wolves, mountain lions). I find it a shame that culled deer meat is left to rot, yet again the soil benefits from it. I would like to one day hunt a Sika Deer. They have very pretty antlers, it would make for a good knife handle and saya.

Yes if a Moose decides to attack a vehicle it is not a good time for the occupants. Here they stand on average 2.0M tall and weigh up to 800-900kg, I hear they are even bigger in Alaska. They are tend to be very aggressive during the hunting season. They have been known to kill bears, including the Grizzly. Moose is an animal to be both feared and respected.

Yes my freezer is big, but I do tend to make jerky and sausage out of it which frees space in the freezer.

That's the same and there are too many deer in Hokkaido, but our hunters are too old to cull them. BTW, Honshu area has NO wolves and other predators, this may be why the hare is too big. >>163
I don't know the quality, but Sika deer in Nara park are cut their antlers for safety, you may buy it.

Nara park, Isn't that where Takemikazuchi no mikoto rode down the mountain on the white deer? Also isn't that the crest of the Fujiwara clan?

Aside from that, I do know Japan culled the wolves in the late 1800's due to concerns of public safety. It is good to know I can get antlers easily it seems, but still I would like to hunt one on Hokkaido one day in the future.

I've seen holstein bulls once. They were so big that I felt so scary.
Actually Moose is bigger than them… If I met them in woods, I would be surprised and freeze.

If I went hunting in Canada, I had to be careful bears, wolves, and moose… ↓

Yes, mountain lions sometimes go near peoples houses. My grandparents live in a place where there are only 200 or so people scattered through out the area. It is nothing but woodland. In the winter they do get mountain lions going though their yard, since they have dogs the mountain lions tend to stay away.

They raised pigs one year and nearly had to shoot a bear who kept going near the pig pen.

It is a shame when people have to kill wildlife when they are not out hunting.

I have salmon and some other fish in my freezer I intend to smoke sooner or later. I will take photos when I go to do that. Some of this salmon I may cure and eat raw.

Mountain Lions dislike dogs for they're just big cats. When people hunt mountain lions they use packs of dogs to get them to hide in a tree, then they are shot from the tree. Although some mountain lions will tear the dogs who are chasing them to bits then flee the hunter and the rest of the pack.

Indeed it is hard to coexist with other animals.

I also like salmon a lot, candied salmon is a very good snack.

Are they truly that aggressive in Canada? Infrequently they come down from the mountain in the evenings. They will creep along until they are aware you are watching them, and then they will slink away. We only have brown bears in my valley, and unlike the mountain lions nothing scares them away. They will only leave when they are bored or full.

Hola, I am an American but my family is traditionally from Oaxaca, Mexico. Here are some of our more popular "traditional" foods. Horchata is a drink that is made usually from rice or almonds and flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, and is pretty sweet tasting. Kind of like chai or milk tea.

Churros are made out of pulled pastry dough that is fried and coated in sugar (like doughnuts), and actually originated from China but the Portuguese and later Mexicans popularized them.

Empanadas are fried or baked dumplings filled with meats and cheeses. These are also pretty popular in Indonesia and the Philippians thanks to the Portuguese.

Tamales are truly Hispanic though dating back to 8000bc. They are corn husks called "hojas" that have been stuffed with a dough made from lard, corn, and broth, called "masa" and various meats and vegetables, then steamed. Very tasty.

Finally there is tequila which is alcohol made from fermenting and aging the juice of the Blue Agave plant.

Is there any sort of Hispanic food well known or popular in Japan?

Hola! Thank you very much for your visiting and posting here! I’m very glad!

Of course I know churros. It is very popular in Japan. Here is a pic of a web site of one famous Japanese doughnut shop.

They say “Churros is a kind of Spanish doughnuts.” (“スペインドーナツ” means Spanish doughnuts ), and I like it. (Almost all girls like it, I know.)

> Empanadas fried or baked dumplings filled with meats and cheeses

I’ve never seen it, but I think it must be very yummy!

>Horchata

> Tamales

It is my first time to know those too. They seem very good, but I can’t imagine how they taste exactly.

Especially, the way to cook tamales sounds difficult. Is it easy to cook at home? Do your mother often cook it?

I'm sorry for my Engrish.

I’m sorry, but I don’t know what the true traditional Hispanic food exactly is. (I don’t know the difference between Hispanic food and Spanish food or Mexican food… sorry)

I may make some mistakes, but I think…

1. burrito

It has been popular in Japan recently. I ate it of Costco. It was hot but very yummy.

2. tortilla chips

I love it so much. We can also get Nachos at WB.

3. tacos, paella

They are very common, you know. :)

4. ajillo

I like it too! I sometimes make it with shrimps or oysters.

5. tequila

Yes! It is well known. But we know it is too strong for us to drink it a lot…. If we did so, we would completely dive into the death valley.

By the way, my mother displays the empty bottle of it with good care in her kitchen.

They are popular I think, but if I made mistakes, please correct them.

Wow I'm surprised churros are popular in Japan, they've only recently become popular in mainstream America, since like 2010 or so. Horchata is kinda hard to describe the flavor but it's kind of like almond or rice milk with vanilla and cinnamon. As for tamales it is hard to describe what they would taste like. I guess they are a bit like enchiladas but that wouldn't fully do the flavor justice. I guess it is kind of like describing what miso tastes like to a person that has never had Asian food.

As for cooking Tamales, they don't particularly require much skill to make but they are time consuming. My family and I usually only make them for holidays and special occasions when we are all together, and our whole family spends an afternoon making around 90 or so tamales. You can freeze them too so they last for weeks.

Also your don't worry your English is very good!

>>1078

Don't worry Hispanic, Mexican, and Spanish all pretty much describe the same thing since south/middle American Countries/Spain/Portugal share pretty much the same sort of foods.

>Burrito, tortilla chips, tacos, paella, and ajillo

Yup those are all popular Hispanic foods, though I'm surprised that Paella and Ajillo are popular there since they are not very well known in the United States (though I think this is because seafood it harder to come by in a lot of the states than compared to Japan.)

>it is too strong for us to drink it a lot

Hahaha I wish more Americans knew this, a lot of us tend to drink a lot of tequila and get crazy.

>my mother displays the empty bottle of it with good care in her kitchen.

Cool! What brand is it? Tequila is known to have really interesting bottle designs.

We can get Burrito at 7-Eleven, but it is different from original one, I think. Anyway the word “Burrito” became popular, and wrap salad has been popular recently.

>Paella

It is very popular as one of the Spanish foods.Yes. It may be because we like seafood.

There is an actor who like cooking with olive oil in Japan. It might be one reason… just kidding.(He is well known as a man who always use too much oil on TV.)

Yup, it is really fun. We put on music and drink while we make them, it's like one big party.

Yeah they are really tasty and much easier to make than tamales, haha. I tend to make them every other week or so.

>We can get Burrito at 7-Eleven, but it is different from original one.

Yeah ours look like this ^ and tend to mainly have a mix of beans, meat, and cheese.

>Porfidio Dolce

Ah, I just looked it up, that is a very good quality tequila. If you want to know what Tequila is higher quality check to see if it says 100% Blue Agave. A lot of the cheaper tequilas are mixes of many types of Agave, which are okay but Blue Agave is the best.

>but they seem a little bit dangerous

Haha yeah, some tequila brands tend to go crazy with their bottles so they can look cool. But must of the Top-shelf (meaning high Quality) tequila is very reserved with it's bottle design

>Well, How much do you drink Tequila or some alcohol?

It depends, I tend to drink liquor and spirits more than beer or wine so instead of drinking a bunch of beers I have a cocktail or two. As for how much tequila I drink regularly, I am not entirely sure. I am fortunate enough that I work for a very large liquor company so I get a discount on a ton of types of liquor, and i tend to switch up what I drink regularly. There are a whole bunch of ways to drink it though with the most popular being the "Margarita".

Another popular way to drink is with tequila shots. Sorry, I couldn't find a good English video for it but basically.

1) You lick some salt off the back of your hand.

2) Take a shot of tequila.

3) Put a lime (they use a lemon in Spain) wedge in your mouth and suck on it.

This is very fun to do at parties.

>Santana - Smooth ft. Rob Thomas

I have this music!

I have some compilation albums of the old American famous music.

This music is in the one of them, and, this album is the one of the best album that I like.

I sometimes listen to it while driving to my company.

This is the first time I've seen this music video. Thank you so much!

In that album, there are "Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5" and "Marc Anthony - I Need to Know", and so on.

E-Each videos is too sexy anyway. I've noticed just now…

I really enjoy talking with you! But I am sorry. I have little time now.

Hahaha yeah Latin music tends to be pretty sexual/romantic. It's a cultural thing I guess.

>Unfortunately I don't understand very much what each songs means.

"I need to Know" is about a guy who is hearing rumors that the woman he is madly in love with, loves him back. So he is asking her if she loves him because he "needs to know"

"Mambo No. 5" originally did not have lyrics to it when it was recorded in 1952, but the version that Lou Bega made is the most popular. He is singing about all of the girls that he has dated in the past.

Also what kind of mixed drinks are popular in Japan?

There have been many many kinds of liquor in the world since a very long time ago.

It sometimes brings me strange feeling.

Yeah I know. It is famous in Japan. Girls like it because it hides the taste of strong alcohol.

>What music do you like to play?

It depends on my friends and our feelings.

Sometimes they like to sing, so we play Japanese songs and sing them.

We decide what songs we play by the theme of drinking party. (Birthday party, complaining about working party, lost love party, and so on)

Some of them like to dance and sing, so we chose some famous songs in English. My friends sometimes bring some albums they like. (They gave me that album in which there are Smooth ft. Rob Thomas, I Need to Know, Mambo No. 5. )

One friend liked singing c-chorus, so I played only one chorus CD that our junior high school gave me… (;^_^A

Almost all Japanese apartments are small, so we always have to care the neighbors.

But fortunately my rooms are structurally apart from my neighbors’ rooms, and a sound is hard to leak. Therefore my friends can sing and play guitar.

(However if I opened the window then, my neighbor might calls the police, I think…. )

Here is a music that we like. It is Japanese song.

He looks strange, but this song makes us feel fun. We can drink a lot. lol.

I will replay little by little because I am poor at English, I'm sorry .

To make English sentences is very difficult for me. (But it is very fun.)

Please give me some music you like.

Sharing music that are good for cooking and drinking is very fun. I enjoy it!

Most Mexican food in the States makes the food less spicy than what it should be, since most Americans can't eat really hot foods well. However the food my family and relatives in Mexico cook is extremely spicy because we love our food to have "heat".

Yeah, most definitely. This one looks like you could use it as a nice vase afterwards.

Alright here is a story about me and a friend of mine.

>First year of college I made friends with a guy who did not drink, or smoke, etc. We called him Gator.

>As time goes by he starts drinking little bits at a time, a beer here and there nothing major.

>Halloween rolls around and we go to a party some friends are throwing.

>Booze is everywhere, and I'm like a kid in a candy store.

>Joking around another one of my friends called Hurricane challenges Gator to take shots with him.

>Gator accepts and ends up doing 7 shots.

Now my friend Gator is a 6ft 2in or 187.9cm tall burly guy from Canada and actually handles the liquor really well. He ends up having the time of his life.

>The next day is Saturday, and Hurricane, Gator, me, and another guy named Ryan are going to another party later that night.

>We start to sip on a few beers in Hurricane's dorm room around 5:00pm to get a good buzz going.

>Gator is having none of that.

>He starts pounding beers like there is no tomorrow.

>8:00pm

>Gator is still drinking but has slowed down a bit, and is very drunk.

>another friend swings by and invites my to smoke with him.

>my friends don't smoke weed so I head off to 420 blaze it.

>Come back about an hour later to find Gator and Ryan in a Mexican stand off.

>Gator is an inch away from Ryan's face shouting "Hurricane look at me"

>Ryan is drunk and getting angry.

>Hurricane and I pull Gator back and sit him on the couch.

> Ryan storms off and Hurricane follows him.

>I go over to Gator who is sitting on the couch with his head in his hands.

>"uh, are you okay Gator?"

>Gator jumps up and immediately falls over smashing Hurricane's cheap coffee table.

>I'll take that as a "no" then.

>I help Gator up and he starts stumbling to the door.

> "I'm totally cool bro lets go to that party"

> I follow Gator out into the hallway and he is zig-zagging all over the place trying to make it to the stairs.

>Shit I need to stop him.

>"Uh hey Gator shouldn't you go to the bathroom before heading out?"

>Gator spins around and grabs me by the arm pulling me into the hall bathroom with him.

>"anon you're smart, you're a smart guy, that's why you're my friends."

>Still holding my arm in a death grip he takes off his pants with one hand and leans the side of his body in the urinal.

>Gator stares at me and in a dead serious tone says.

>"Anon I want you to slap me."

>"Uh…. what?"

>"Slap me anon, I've been a shit friend."

>okay…

>I half heartily wave my free hand at his face and he dodges it.

>"Fingertips, you only used your fingertips. You need to go full force anon"

>Tightening his grip on my arm Gator proceeds to slap himself in the face with it.

>*slap*

>"WHO IS YOUR MASTER AND COMMANDER?"

>"…what?"

>*slap*

>" WHO IS YOUR MASTER AND COMMANDER ANON?"

>"I.. I don't know"

>*slap*

>"WHO IS YOUR MA-"

>Suddenly Ryan kicks in the door and storms in with Hurricane in tow.

>"…what the fuck? Are we interrupting something anon?"

>Ryan and Hurricane help me pry off Gator, put his pants back on and get him into the hallway.

>While Gator is stumbling down the hall back to his room Ryan and Hurricane turn to me.

>"what was going on in there anon?"

>"Hell if I know. Gator is compl-"

>Look down the hall, Gator is no longer in front of us, and we are nowhere near his room.

Oh fuck he went into some random person's room.

>We frantically try door knobs to see which one are unlocked.

>The second one I try opens to a dark room with two guys sleeping in it and Gator squatting in the back corner in his boxers, shirt and pants nowhere to be found.

>Hurricane barges past me grabs Gator and tosses him over his shoulder like a sack of flower and sprints out of the room down the hall.

>I catch up to see Gator being tossed into his bunk bed.

>Gator yells "Ya'll are trying to make me southern!" and then passes out.

>Ryan, Hurricane, and I call it a night and head back to our rooms.

>The next morning I wake up and head to the Dorm Common Room.

>Gator is sitting on the couch looking like death warmed over.

>"What the fuck did I do last night anon?"

I filled him in on what happened and he apologized profusely and treated Ryan, Hurricane, and I to pancakes.

>what kind of mixed drinks are popular in Japan?

There are some bars where we can drink authentic cocktails, but in other casual bars (called Izakaya, or so), there are also some cocktails.

We learn casual cocktails at first there, because authentic bars are refined for young people.

I think "Moscow Mule", "Gin and Tonic", "screwdriver", "Peach Fizz", and “Margarita” , and so on are popular.

Additionally, “Kahlua and Milk” is very popular among the young girls, because it is sweet enough.

It's magical mixed drink.

A little back story on why Gator was saying the "master and commander" thing. During the previous day, which was Halloween , Gator, Hurricane, Ryan, and I all dressed up as the Powerpuff girls and professor Utonium. We ended up looking like my second pic minus the head pieces. Gator was dressed up as Blossom, the red one, who is the leader of the group, and when he got completely wasted he was shouting at Hurricane and Ryan that he was their Leader which somehow turned into master and commander by the end of the night.

>Chilling with my roommate on a Saturday, drinking and watching old kung-fu films.

> We start to get hungry but there is no food in the apartment.

> Decide to get food from this artisan pizza place down the street from our apartment.

>The pizza is like $14 for a 12 inch pizza (30.48cm) but it's good and we are drunk so whatever.

>The table next to us is completely empty with a completely untouched 1/3 of a pizza left on its serving platter.

Yeah, I like its taste. This is my first time that I've heard it.

The start of "Forever" and the end of "Paralyzed" is very goood!

and I also like the melody line"When I'm With You". Their music is very good, and I like "When I'm With You" the best now.

His voice is similar to someone's one…….

>Clean Bandit - Rather Be ft. Jess Glynne [Official Video]

I've seen this video before. I was so surprised, and felt interesting. Yes I like it, especially its melody !

Tsukiji, Shinbashi, and so on…. for the persons living in Tokyo, it is more interesting I think!

>The White Panda

pretty good!

I think your favorite and mine are similar.

B-But …..my professor Japanese google sir told me what Russian Pirate is like this pic.

・・・・・・・what?

In Japan, we often eat somethings with beer, syochu, sake, and so on.

like this.

>>5

for example, yakitori, edamame, hiyayakko, sashimi(raw fishes), and so on. They are called "Otsumami ".

What do you like to eat with alcohol?

( I also know there are some people who rarely eat food with alcohol.)

Huh, I know about "Death Note" the anime and its live action movie, but I didn't know they used the Red Hot Chile Pepper's music.

>Yeah, I like its taste. This is my first time that I've heard it.

Yup its pretty good I like all of his songs so far but "Paralyzed", "The Future" and "Money" especially.

>I think your favorite and mine are similar.

It's kinda cool how two random people on opposite sides of the world can have similar tastes in music. It makes me smile.

>I-I …. I know only a few famous classical music…

I'm the same >_>" I mainly just look up "classical accordion music" or "french accordion music" on youtube and hit play

Hahahaha, oh man the dancing naked Russian guy. We made up the name of the drink cause it was like a "White Russian" but had vanilla rum instead of vodka and "White Pirate" didn't sound as good as "Russian Pirate". I don't know if there is an actual name for it.

>What do you like to eat with alcohol?

Hmmm, I guess that it kind of depends on what I'm drinking/ what is in my kitchen at the time.

For example if I am drinking wine I throw together a charcuterie board, which is just a fancy term for a bunch of cured meats, bread, cheeses, crackers, small fruits (grapes/berries) and spreads (like hummus, baba ganoush etc.). Or if I'm drinking tequila or something spicy like a bloody Mary, I like to eat avocados or homemade salsa.

I know we also have a lot of "bar food" (which is typically fried foods) that is good with beer. Like fried chicken wings with different dipping sauces, people just call them "wings". Miniature hamburgers called "sliders". Fried Onion rings, french fries, etc.

This one fancy cocktail bar that I have been to does some stranger stuff like serving up Steak Tartare, which is seasoned raw beef w/ a raw quail egg on top that you eat with bread. They also do Deviled Eggs with a Black Truffle filling. Both are very tasty, but kind of odd to be served at a bar.

Though I think the Spanish perfected the art of food with drink by creating "Tapas" which comes from the Spanish verb "tapar" meaning "to cover" because cafes in Spain used to place small plates on top of their coffee to keep insects out of it. Here is a Wikipedia definition that gives a better description than I can.

> a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or hot (such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid). In select bars in Spain, tapas have evolved into an entire, and sometimes sophisticated, cuisine. In Spain, patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. In some Central American countries, such snacks are known as bocas. In Mexico, similar dishes are called "botanas."

>The serving of tapas is designed to encourage conversation, because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them. Also, in some countries it is customary for diners to stand and move about while eating tapas.

I'm lucky enough to live in a city where some Cuban restaurant owners have opened up a few Tapas Bars, and they are fantastic with my favorite being "Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese"

There is also a bar in my city that specializes in Whiskey and Bourbon that serves up Chicken and Waffles with a flight of whiskey, that is pretty good.

I'm afraid that this board is dead, but I'll post anyway in the very small chance that any of you anons might return (or new anons) and see this

Since I live in the US, would I be able to post food that is native to my state (Pennsylvania)?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrapple

This has to be one of my most favorite foods to eat for breakfast. It is a custom for people in my region within Pennsylvania to put maple syrup on this stuff; the meat and the syrup are surprisingly complimentary.

Thanks, it seems yummy! like a kinds of

hamburger.

I can't imagine how it tastes, but there are sage, thyme, savory, black pepper, and so on in it? So it's salty.

>Pennsylvania Dutch or Pennsylvania German

That's the first I've heard. Sounds interesting!

>the meat and the syrup are surprisingly complimentary.

Well, I have not been used to it, so I'm wondering if it's like potato chips with chocolate , or not……?
