I thought a place for talking about idol music and artists in case there's a certain group that may not be popular enough to have their own specific thread.

Discovered Negicco a year ago and really surprised by how much I've come to like them. I'm glad that they're getting the popularity they deserve. For their tour earlier this year, they just had a couple of instrument players playing over the track. Here, they have a full band.

I admire their darling, down-to-earth aesthetic and their retro sound.

Would Koto be considered an idol even though she's of the indie scene?

Anyway, her her energy is so great that it's insane.

Has anyone heard the two new singles? How do you feel about them? I personally don't care for "Pick Me Up" much, but I'm feeling "Relax in the City".

And yes, I was also skeptical at first. But once you get over the bizarre factor of the whole premise, the music is actually pretty solid! And lots of fun! I love watching their performances because they're so full of energy, especially Moa.

Not to be a troll or anything, but I honestly feel as if Babbymetal is a "meme" band, a fad, a "metal" group for the normies ("so zany, Japan does it again!")

I'm not even a weeb, but I feel like they overshadow Japanese bands that deserve more merit for their work.

 No.235

>>234

I think they're far from terrible, talented for sure, but like you said I think a lot of westerners only see it for the novelty, and as a trendy thing. I have a couple normie friends who "love japanese culture and music" that do at least. Baby Metal and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu are the big two I see that happen with.

I understand where you guys are coming from. They'll certainly never shake free of their idol roots, and that's okay by me. Babymetal is definitely about more than the music, they're sort of a full package of song, dance, visuals, and lore.

Even still, I think their music is solid and it's clear that the producers actually care about metal and its subgenres.
