Oath Keepers Arrive in Ferguson To Protect Community From Riots

The Oath Keepers are in Ferguson to help protect local businesses and residents, the group says. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said the presence of the organization primarily comprised of current and former police, military, and first responders, is both “unnecessary” and “inflammatory.”

The current Ferguson protests began on the anniversary of the Michael Brown shooting by police officer Darren Wilson. The former law enforcement officer was not indicted for any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Oath Keepers went to Ferguson during the riots last year and were reportedly kicked off the rooftops where they had positioned themselves to help protect private businesses. The armed men have reportedly been threatened with arrest for their activities.

At least one dozen Ferguson businesses were burned to the ground in the wake of the Darren Wilson decision in the Michael Brown shooting case.

According to a report by NBC, both Ferguson police officers and protesters stated that they saw Oath Keepers carrying their rifles and related gear around the town on Tuesday morning. The city was placed under a “state of emergency” due to the ongoing protests of the Mike Brown shooting. Missouri state law respects the Second Amendment and does not prohibit the open carry of firearms as long as the act is not done in an “angry or threatening manner.”

“I’m happy that we’re able to defend ourselves,” a man identifying himself as an Oath Keeper said in footage from NBC affiliate KSDK. “It’s been our right for a long time.”

The St. Louis County Police Department said it would consult with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys Office about the legalities of the issue. Social media photos and posts about the Ferguson Oath Keepers sightings often stated that the men are armed with “assault rifles.” That phrase is most commonly used by individuals unfamiliar with firearms or gun control supporters. While the label is not used on any rifle box or item description, it is often cast upon a vast array of semi-automatic rifles – particularly the extremely popular AR-15 or SKS rifles.

Media Launches New Demonization Campaign as Oath Keepers Arrive in Ferguson

Despite Oath Keepers protecting black-owned businesses from looters during previous unrest.

http://www.infowars.com/media-launches-new-demonization-campaign-as-oath-keepers-arrive-in-ferguson/

The same establishment media that celebrated black-owned businesses being looted and burned during last year’s Ferguson riots is once again demonizing Oath Keepers – the organization that helped protect property belonging to Ferguson residents from being attacked.

Following Sunday night’s shooting, Infowars reporters Joe Biggs and Jakari Jackson arrived in Ferguson to cover the latest developments. They were flanked by Oath Keepers members who were exercising their right to open carry.

Despite the fact that the Oath Keepers immediately began educating Ferguson demonstrators on their constitutional rights and having constructive conversations about how the movement should be about unity and not race hate, the media jumped on their presence and instantly turned it into another opportunity for race baiting and division.

Newsweek quoted the Southern Poverty Law Center, a George Soros-backed outfit that exists solely to smear conservative groups, accusing Oath Keepers of being “fiercely anti-government” and “militaristic”.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar also said the group’s presence was “both unnecessary and inflammatory,” while #BlackLivesMatter activist Talal Ahmad questioned why “white citizens” were even allowed to enter a “black community” at all.

The Independent also contributed to the race-baiting, asking why only white people are allowed to carry guns (anyone is allowed to open carry under Missouri law regardless of their skin color).

The term ‘Oath Keepers’ soon began trending on Twitter, where the echo chamber of negative rhetoric was amplified.

Deray McKesson, a prominent #BlackLivesMatter leader who is constantly lavished with praise by the mainstream media, also retweeted a slur against Oath Keepers and Infowars.

Why is Oath Keepers – an organization that came to the aid of Ferguson residents during last year’s looting – being demonized by #BlackLivesMatter leaders?

And why are #BlackLivesMatter leaders parroting the same propaganda as mainstream media outlets that celebrated black-owned businesses in Ferguson being looted?

Why are attempts by the Oath Keepers to create unity in opposition to police brutality between blacks and whites being turned into another excuse for racial division by #BlackLivesMatter leaders and the establishment media?

Oath Keepers In Ferguson: The Truth Behind The Lies

Sam Andrews, who is heading up the the Oath Keeper operation in Ferguson MO, was interviewed by Jason Van Tatenhove. Sam, very simply, and eloquently destroys the Main Stream Media attempts to demonize the Oath Keepers, and their role in helping to calm and stabilize the situation there.

Last November, Sam led a group of Oath Keepers who protected some businesses, when the Police were pulled back, allowing rioters and looters to destroy, or damage, many buildings and businesses.

Missouri Protesters Get 2nd Amendment Lesson

Protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, are getting a lesson on the Constitution, a document most of them seem completely unaware of.

The lesson is coming from members of the Oath Keepers organization who showed up in the city Tuesday donning protective vests with handguns holstered on their belts and carrying those rifles with 30-round magazines that so frighten leftist gun grabbers, bed wetters and the social Marxist collectivists elites. Missouri is an open-carry state.

According to media reports, the Oath Keepers were confronted by protesters asking why they were allowed to openly carry weapons. “I’m happy that we’re able to defend ourselves,” one unidentified Oath Keeper replied. “It’s been our right for a long time.”

Actually, given that self-defense is a natural right, it has always been there. And both the U.S. Constitution and the Missouri State Constitution provide protections designed to remind government functionaries of its presence. Unfortunately, St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar is apparently unfamiliar with the concept, as well as the constitutions of the United States and Missouri.

Commenting to a reporter from the laughably incompetent, state-propaganda-media Reuters news agency Belmar condemned the Oath Keepers’ presence and vowed to work with prosecutors to see if the men had broken any laws.

The men were there to protect a journalist from the Infowars.com website who was in Ferguson covering the rioters who were making mischief on the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death, according to one of the men who identified himself to media only as John. But Alex Jones of Infowars said the website had not asked Oath Keepers for protection.

During the height of protests in the wake of the grand jury’s decision not to indict officer Darren Wilson in Brown’s death, Oath Keepers protected a number of stores from looters, providing a service the local police were either unable or unwilling to perform.

If you are unfamiliar with them, Oath Keepers is group of current and former military, law enforcement and first responders who have vowed to uphold their oaths to the Constitution and oppose all Constitutional encroachments. They “declare that they will not obey unconstitutional orders, such as orders to disarm the American people, to conduct warrantless searches, or to detain Americans as ‘enemy combatants’ in violation of their ancient right to jury trial.”

Of course, media reports on the Oath Keepers’ presence were not without information from the anti-freedom, anti-constitutional governance organization, the Southern Preposterous Lie Center, which called Oath Keepers a “fiercely anti-government, militaristic group.” Because, as we all know, standing for the Constitution is “fiercely anti-government” in the minds of statist progressives.

As a reminder and for St. Louis County Police Chief Belmar’s and the county prosecutors’ edification, the 2nd Amendment reads:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

And from the Missouri State Constitution, Article 1, Section 23:

"That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, ammunition, and accessories typical to the normal function of such arms, in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned. The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. Any restriction on these rights shall be subject to strict scrutiny and the state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the general assembly from enacting general laws which limit the rights of convicted violent felons or those adjudicated by a court to be a danger to self or others as result of a mental disorder or mental infirmity."

Oath Keepers to Hold March Through Ferguson With 50 Armed Black Protesters

The Missouri chapter of the Oath Keepers are planning to hold an open carry march through downtown Ferguson, Mo., which will reportedly involve arming 50 black protestors with AR-15 rifles.

The decision to hold the event transpired after St. Louis County officials, in violation of Missouri’s open carry law, insisted that members of the group could not open carry long barrel rifles within the city. In a video uploaded to YouTube, police chief Jon Belmar is seen warning a number of Oath Keepers that open carrying long barrel rifles would be a violation of the law.

“My only problem is with the long guns and inciting these guys out here,” Belmar said, referring to the Ferguson protesters.

When one of the men questioned Belmar regarding Missouri’s open carry law, he responded by saying, “I have attorneys. I didn’t go to law school. I get what you guys stand for and probably agree with most of it. All I’m trying to do is manage this thing.”

While trying to simply manage things is semi-understandable, it’s Belmar’s duty to assure that those he employs respect Missouri’s open carry law and the Constitutional rights’ of American citizens.

Head of the St. Louis County, Mo. Oath Keepers group, Sam Andrews called Belmar out for his blatant disregard of the law.
