Seems like the most relevant thread to ask in.

So I'm considering getting an A.L.I.C.E. pack I'm going to join a Search and Rescue team to carry supplies in, and I'm really unsure on which size I need or should get.

I'm looking at these here on militaryuniformsupply.com

http://www.militaryuniformsupply.com/new-od-alice-pack-with-frame-large Large

and

http://www.militaryuniformsupply.com/new-od-alice-pack-with-frame-medium Medium

The large really seems…really large, and I'm not sure if I'm going to need all that space.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Any other bags I should check out?

depends on how big you are and how many supplies you are going to be carrying.

The medium ALICE is a pretty big pack.

You know you can buy used though right? I mean this is the milsurp thread…

$132 is ridiculous when you could get a sturdy used one for pretty cheap, or you could get a nice new pack with MOLLE webbing

Yeah, I know that the price seems a little ridiculous. Which is why I've been so hesitant to buy it. Really it's more a reference than anything. I'll also look on ebay.

how would i go about trying to pick camo patterns that match my area best?

since its the start of the year i was thinking about taking my camera and snapping various landscape photos every month and comparing them to various patterns to try picking a warm season and cold season pattern. thing is im not sure how many photos i should try getting and if i should try going out of my way to get a variety of locations.

i guess right now im considering maybe a few locations close to me and snapping a few photos at each one every month. probably a field, riverside, the treeline, and deep in the woods.

anyone got suggestions for my method? i live in SC if thats relevant.

>>301240

Your method is unneccesary. Just look at the type of climate you live in and decide which pattern fits it best. IMO woodland, flecktarn, and DPM are usually a safe bet.

Also comparing patterns to photos doesn't do them justice, because quality of camera/time of day/lighting/weather conditions all play into it.

This is why I buy used. I let the fools buy it new and when they don't want to play with it anymore I buy it from them for way under the price of what it was originally.

Here is the airsoft rifle I bought for 37 dollars shipped. Mind you I had to put a lot of work into it to get it to properly function but I didn't put any money into repairing it.

I had to solder the connector pins that connect to the motor, I screwed in a wood screw where the original screw was for the mag release, rescrewed the pistol grip plate with sheet metal screws because the original threads were shit.

"All-rounder" camo patterns just straight up don't work. Bite the bullet and get multiple sets. Depending on what the local foliage looks like during spring and autumn, you may need only two kinds of camo, or as many as four.

If you're on a serious budget, you may be able to get away with just flecktarn, and a snow camo poncho for the winter. YMMV, and it falls into the same trap that universal patterns do.

Hey /k/, petty lurker peon here. I'm trying to make some advances towards a gril I like and her birthday is coming up.

I'm wondering what I should get her. She still goes to school and her backpack is rather small, so I've been contemplating on buying her a small/medium size German rucksack. Either Bundweiser or straight WWII era since she has a deep fascination with Nazi Germany and shares Adolf's birthday, which naturally makes my dick diamonds.

I think I might be set on the rucksack, but I'm wondering what else I could put in there without seeming too tryhard. I was thinking maybe a book, some art supplies I can easily nig from a corporate store, and a microsd for her tablet.

Fucking shit, she's probably going to be doing gifts at her birthday party and I'll spill my spaghetti in front of her other candy ass guy friends.
