Now I've just gotta know what it sounds like. I might have to convert my SMLE to find out. The barrel is pretty much fucked after the first few inches, so it's not like I'd be losing much accuracy. It wasn't converted, I am pretty sure that was one of the original prototypes, then they moved to .280Brit before the US said they were using .308 so the British asked FN to convert it to that and it became the standard.
Remember, the STG44 was tilting bolt just like the FAL and was developed just after WW2 so 8mm Kurz and STG44 mags would have been common in Europe at the time.
Interesting that they included the stripper clip guide.

Smoke "grenades".
Tape some matches to them, then swipe a match box across the matches to light them.
They are typically used for semi-formal training, like the homeguard does.
Proper smoke grenades are used for more serious training and exercises.

The Swiss version of the civilian marksmanship program sell old service rifles off to competitive shooters.
The rules of some Swiss shooting competitions demand you shoot with service rifles without optics, but some other modifications are allowed.
This is a rifle modified for such competitions that someone spent far too much money on.

I'm noticing these gents are holding their VZs in between the base of the magazine and the bottom of the receiver. Is that okay to do? The handguard doesn't do shit to prevent heat, so I do this. If they're doing this, will I be a faggot if I do it, too?

it's fine. since the magazine is locked in the front/rear you'd be more likely to cause feed problems by directly grabbing the magazine and inducing left/right movement. opposite the AR.

Ah, dude, that's the golden gun. It was given to Gadaffi by some relative of his, and the guy at the back kept it after they killed him. I think his parents keep the gun safe.
