Talk about yer gun laws in your state/city/county/country.

>Live in a small city in southeastern Virginia

>Surrounded by several other cities you should know by now

>My city is the only one out of this group that lets me legally open-carry my Assault Rifle 15 baby killing assault weapon (Any weapon holding more than 20 rounds per magazine) without a permit

>Combined with the already lax gun laws in Virginia

Which is bretty gud all things considered. There has been a huge influx of people moving there from the northeast and California and they've brought a little piece of it with them.

>but only single shots or bolt actions up to 8mm, and semi-auto rifles in .22 only. (the law explicitly says "22 caliber for sport shooting" but apparently that only includes .22lr and not .223)

>there's no assault weapons ban but if your gun looks too scary it will not pass the proof-house test, they'll say it's too deadly thus unfit for civilian ownership. Happened a lot to Saiga-12 owners.

>sport shooting licence allows you to have up to 8 guns with a limit of 3000 rounds per caliber/per gun (so if you have 2 .22lr guns you can buy up to 6000 rounds!)

>also allows you to transport your gun unloaded, and in a locked container from the registered domicile to permitted shooting ranges.

>hunting licence allows you to transport your gun, dunno about the details.

>Pretty much anything goes

>Strong gun and hunting culture

>Open carry legal and lots of people do it

>Cops only pull over Mexicans or out of state plates

The only annoying thing is that you need a "pistol purchase permit" from your local sheriff's dpt. To buy a handgun. It costs 5 dollars and you can only get 5 at a time. It's not a huge deal but kind of irritating since I buy about a dozen handguns per year. If you have a CHL, you don't need the permit so really the law just encourages more people to get their CHL.

I'm from Texas originally and had many bad experiences with the police there which left me with a shitty attitude towards law enforcement, but I honestly can't complain about the cops here. One helped me jump start my car this morning.

>>311453

Don't get me wrong, I love Texas and have loose plans to move back there after I graduate. The cops in Texas just seem to be a bit more heavy-handed in their approach. I've been beaten by them for perceived "disrespect" and had my rights violated many times. One cop took my car keys out of my hand and opened my trunk with them, then wrote me a ticket for illegal fireworks for having a tiny little blackcat. When I worked overnight security in Ft. Worth, I was pulled over every single time I went to get a cup of coffee at 3 am by the same officer. After I complained, he pressed the barrel of his glock into my temple and threatened to kill me, then wrote me a ticket for the burnt out bulb over my license plate.

That's just my personal experience though, your mileage may vary.

I never had to get a range membership in the Dallas area. You just pay by the hour. Your best bet is to make friends with someone who owns land. They won't let you mag-dump into a pile of water jugs at a public range ;)

We got harassed a little: what we were doing, where we were going, why. Even asked to see what's in the trunk. After 40 minutes of waiting, my friend, who has literally 0 patience, called the cop a fat pig and then spent he next 10 minutes throwing insults at the cop. I just closed my eyes and put my head against the head rest as he made the cop look like a fool. Cops face looked like pic related. He gave us a ticket for speeding (I wasn't) and just left.

>18 years of age, or 20 for pistols

>application to the nearest PD

>computer based dumb as fuck psych test

>79e money, half for each subsequent application for the same session

>a lawful use for the weapon, common ones are hunting and sport shooting

>documentation that proves you hunt or shoot regularly (for pistols, law mandates 2 years of shooting to be eligible)

>collecting is also a valid reason, but needs specific approval

Firearm categories:

>shotgun; shoulder fired, >=84cm scattergun with >=40cm barrel

>rifle; shoulder fired >=84cm rifle with >40cm barrel

>pistol/revolver; >13x18cm

>aow; rifle or shotgun <84cm and/or <40cm barrel

>pocket pistol; <13x18cm

Action types:

>type I: single shot only

>type II: magazine fed single shot

>type III: self-loading single shot

>type IV: fully automatic fire

All weapons may be of any action type.

Then there are especially dangerous weapons; the law lists rocket/missile systems and breech loaded cannons. Fully automatic weapons are also in this category, which is only really open to collectors.

Upon approved application you'll get a paper that lets you buy a weapon that fits the permit. Valid for 6mo or 12 for collectors. After buying the gun, you'll bring it to the nearest PD, where it'll be added to the registry.

The law only states that a weapon must be suitable and not top powerful for planned use. No other requirements.

Then you may borrow weapons if you already have a similar permit. Permits are also valid indefinitely, unless there's a good reason to put a time limit on it. Pistol permits are initially given for five years. A safe is mandatory if you have 5 or more firearms, or even one especially dangerous one.

I probably forgot some stuff, but that's more or less it.

ugh…

my M1 garand is the most boarderline legal thing i can have. 7rd magazine limit. but mags/clips can hold at most 10rds, its illegal to load them past 7.

m1 garand is ok because after you shove 8 in the clip, as soon as it enters the gun, it closes making it 7+1.

an assembled lower of an AR15 is technically an assualt weapon. it can accept a detachable magazine AND has a pistol grip. no barrel or bolt though, still illegal.

good thing the sherifs refuse to enforce the law, and most police dont enforce the law because most are fuds or normies that cant even understand the wording of the laws and are scared to bring people up on false charges.

"yea i think pistol grips are ok if its under 10rds" "no no no, it cant have a pistol grip if it has a bayonette lug, but only if it has a detachable magazine, does it have that?" "how do i tell? whats a bayonette lug? i dont see a knife" "yea, if theres no knife then its good" "oh ok"

Other than that, I don't really know much.

I go to all the gun shows, and sometimes I'm surprised by the borderline illegal items people sell. Vendors really like to… er… stretch the limits? I'm not good with my idioms, but you get it.

Nobody is afraid of guns and everybody seems to know how to use them pretty well. Even me, despite not having much experience with guns and being a nogunz.

There are never any shootings because it'd be retarded with seemingly every other person having CC.

Here, let me tell you the sordid history of gun laws in Germany in the post war era:

1946

>complete post-war gun ban for both private and state institutions enacted by the occupation authorities

1950

>single-shot shotguns (up to 12 gauge) and rifles (up to 8mm) become legal again, mag limit of 5 shots

1952

>Germany regains sovereignty (>IMFUCKINGPLYING)

>Weimar era gun laws go into effect again

1956

>private gun ownership allowed again

>no restrictions on the type of firearms owned

>no registrations of owned firearms

>all that is needed is a allowance from the authorities, shooting club membership is enough

>law is federalized, meaning the states regulate how they enforce the law

>even if the gun is bought illegally, statue of limitations is merely 3 years

>maximum penalty is a 100DM fine, the gun is not forfeit

1972

>a combination of student revolts, left wing terror and murder cases spur the adoption of a new gun law

>constitution is changed to give the federal government the power to regulated gun laws in Germany

>the aim of the new law is to "Prevent citizens everywhere from arming themselves" since "even the act of gun ownership without any motives can become a danger to public safety and therefore strict regulation is necessary" to quote Siegfried Schiller, a Hamburg bureaucrat instrumental in drafting the law

>meanwhile the Interior Minister assures gun owners that these measures will be rolled back once the crisis is over

>all currently owned guns can be registered for free as long as no character flaws like alcoholism or a criminal record exist

>this legal registration is valid for 5 years and would have to be renewed with proper proof that the gun was "required"

>despite amnesty this is a giant failure, turning approx. 20 million guns in Germany "grey"

>further gun purchases required: no criminal record, a "sanctioned need" like hunting and proof of proficiency, age limit is 18 years

>hunter could purchase unlimited rifles and shotguns but were limited to two handguns (on their hunting license at least)

>sport shooters could buy unlimited single shot single-barrel rifles, pistols and revolvers need a special license

>collectors could own up to 200 guns but need to register the type of weapons they intend to collect

>full auto weapons are now illegal to own unless they're deactivated

>all these laws only apply to guns using common ammunition, meaning foreign and special snowflake funs are still free

>4mm pellet guns are still freely sold as long as the energy is under 7.5 Joule

1976

>guns in uncommon calibers like 7,65 × 53 Arg flooding into Germany as well as other loopholes lead to the next revision

>pellet rifles now need to be registered

>now the law applies to all projectile weapons using chemical propellants

>all weapons of war despite being deactivated are now forbidden to own

1980s

>a bunch of ordinances are used to close loopholes, mostly related to buying gun parts in various European countries

2002

>signal and gas pistols now require registration

>concealed carry license is now need to signal and gas pistols

>gun safes are now a mandatory requirement

>imitation weapons (airshit and non-fireable replicas) are made legal

>legal definition of "clean criminal record" and reliability are tightened

>just after the law is accepted the Erfurt school shooting occurs

>it's perpetrated with a gun coming from police stocks

>that was registered with forged documents

late 2002

>pump action shotguns with pistol grips are forbidden

>butterfly knives, throwing stars, gravity knives and a bunch of other shit is made illegal

>age limit for hunters and sport shooters is now 21

>under 25 year old need to provide a medical-psychological certificate

2008

>carrying imitation weapons is no forbidden on a 10.000€ penalty

>inherited guns need to be deactivated

2009

>Winnenden spree shooting happens

>police now always have probable cause to enter your place of living to inspect storage requirements

>this essentially abrogates the constitutional inviolability of dwellings (Art 13 GG) for gun ownership

>violating storage requirements is now a felony punishable with up to three years in prison

>destruction of confiscated weapons is now lawful

And now the European Commission plans to assrape every gun owner on the continent.

Just look at my flag, is the most obvious example of just how wrong gun control is, and how the only thing it achieves is to leave a country defenseless against the tyranny of the government and the violence of criminals (who, as they're already felons, they don't give a fuck about some silly gun restrictions).

You don't really have to do much to get branded a "fascist" by reds here. For example our new culture minister announced that he will review his ministry's budget and that he will cut funds to shit like theater so he can invest more money into a new building for the state archive and cultural heritage projects.

The "League of Anti-Fascists" (aka Antifa for the elderly) came to protest him in front of the parliament building because he's a "fascist". Pic related, it's the type of shit that was funded by the state during the last 4 years.

Someone 'diagnosed' me with it because my mother took me to a psychologist when I was 15, but because I was being 'asocial' he assumed I was autismo, when the reality was I just didn't like the guy.

Oh well, at least I own funs now even if it is just slavshit

I got some stories about police in general from my criminal justice classes.

>Kansas City, 1980s

>ATF is tracking down someone illegally making and selling machine guns

>they believe the guy is at 140 S. Main St. and have enough probable cause to get the judge to issue the search warrant

>decide to execute the warrant at night because "lol they won't ever see it coming"

>during the 1980s, ATF agents dress like gang members and would make half-assed attempts to display their badges

>because it's dark, and because it's the ATF, they wind up at 140 N. Main St. instead of S. Main

>execute the warrant on the wrong house

>after no response from the knock-and-announce, they kick in the door, looking like gang members

>home owner responds to the entry with a pistol

>ATF shoots the home owner in the head, shattering his temple and destroying part of his brain

>guy gets disabled for life and his lawyer sues the federal government for tens of millions

>from that point on, cops had to get special permission to execute search warrants at night

>Kansas City, again

>two KCPD burglary detectives serve a search warrant for two big-ass TVs that were stolen

>find middle-aged couple in house, serve warrant and begin search

>the two big-ass TVs are sitting in the open, S/Ns match and everything

>cuff couple, read rights, call for a van to transport two suspects and two big-ass TVs

>van's taking its time to get there, so a detective wanders into the basement (this is called "fishing")

>discovers the remains of a small child in the incinerator

>confront the couple, they admit to accidentally killing their child and burning the body to cover it up

>they confess again, even after being reminded of their rights to keep their mouths shut

>they are charged for aggravated homicide and desecration of a corpse

>the corpse was suppressed as evidence because it was discovered beyond the scope of the warrant

>the confession was suppressed because they wouldn't have confessed if the cops wouldn't have found the remains

>since this was taken to trial, the couple gets off for murder and they can't be tried again

>common stunt a lot of cops thought was clever

>cop A goes up to front door

>cop B goes to back door

>cop A knocks on the door

>cop B shouts "come on in!"

>cop A marches in and tries to claim evidence under plain view doctrine

>both cops get screamed at by their supervisor for being retarded

>professor tells story about a guy going around the city stealing construction materials for some reason

>cops suspect he's hiding it all in his backyard

>cops go to neighbors and ask if they can look in their back yard

>neighbors say "yeah, go ahead. that guy's a complete asshole"

>cops go in the backyard and see objects reported stolen

>jump the fence and seize the property

>asshole comes out and gets arrested for possession of stolen property

>stands because plain view doctrine

>moral of the story: you can be an asshole, and you can break the law, but if you do both, people will help the cops bust you

>Kentucky state trooper and father responds to possible child abuse case

>neighbors report hearing a child screaming in pain from the next apartment

>trooper walks up to the door and immediately hears a child screaming in pain

>kicks in the door to find a man has pinched his son's mouth open and ran a screwdriver through the bottom of his mouth like a pike

>defense tries to suppress the evidence because no search warrant

>judge holds the scream was acceptable under plain view and kicking in the door was needed because of exigent circumstances

>defendant goes away for serious child abuse

>buy a night vision camera and and a DVR; pay for overnight shipping
