No, we're on a razor edge. Most of the Republicans are career statists that would do anything to keep their seats. McConnel (who is also my Senator) is a piece of shit that would sell out every last constituent if it meant keeping his seat.
Politics in the US have become so convoluted, the only thing that differentiates the Left from the Right is what special interest groups they represent, but often anything that mutually aids both sides in keeping their seats and generating personal wealth, while shafting their constituency, they'll do it.
All it would take is for Obama to nominate a moderate Republican like Lindsey Graham, someone the Senate would confirm immediately without reservation, but who's political affiliations and personal crusade would trash the shit out of not only our 2nd Amendment Rights, but other rights as well.
Even if Obama nominated a Liberal and the Senate stalled until the President Elect was sworn into office, we have no idea who the next President will be, it could be Hillary or Sanders.

Printed guns are just media hype. Their only advantage is requiring little to no skill or knowledge beyond setting up the printer and downloading a premade plan.
With basic machine tools you can make high quality small arms from scratch. The only problem is rifled barrels, but 3d printing doesn't help with that and it's not impossible to do yourself anyway. If it comes down to it you can make perfectly serviceable guns from scrap metal with a drill and files
I mean, you're right in principle, but you don't have to rely on computers here. The technology that makes gun bans unenforceable has been around for a long time.

Yeah, without a way to reliably churn out propellant materials from stuff you can get from a supermarket, ammo is a problem.

Which is a huge advantage. The disadvantages will only diminish as the as people innovate their way out of them within the confines of current materials/process, as the technology develops, and, probably most importantly, as patents expire.
They aren't super useful in developing a gun from the ground up right now, but they are at least superior in precision/effort for things like making mags and reliably feeding shotgun casings for now.
>>316324
>Ammo will be a problem eventually though.
>Yeah, without a way to reliably churn out propellant materials from stuff you can get from a supermarket, ammo is a problem.
Due to manufacturing complexity, production of casings in the biggest obstacle for ammunition manufacture, not propellant. Without the capacity to make casings for modern cartridges, you're severely limited in your choices/performance.
