>the AK is not an extreme long range weapon by any means
It was an example, are you stupid or something? If long range competition rifles have thick barrels, even if consecutive shots aren't much of a worry (so heat is not a critical factor), why would they carry the extra weight of a thicker barrel?
>a M16 has both a longer and thinner barrel and is not noted for inaccuracy
But that's wrong. The barrel profile on the government M16A2 barrel profile is a constant .625 inches while a Russian AK74 (any of the variants as far as I recall) has a 4 different barrel profiles as it goes getting thinner closer to the tip, only the first 5 or 6 inches are thicker than the M16A2 barrel.
Also worth saying, Navy issued M16A4 are expected to have between 3-4 MOAs in accuracy, sometimes going up to 5. That's the upper limit to be accepted too. I invite you to look up the military reports on the matter, there is plenty of evidence there.

You have some severe reading comprehension problems, m8. That's exactly what >>327659 is saying.
(The AK)
>It's a beautiful weapon
>and the handy-grabby part
(Of the AK)
>looks a lot like the shoulder-placey part on an RPG-7
His talking about the handguard of the AK looking like the heat-shield (that's the proper name) of the RPG-7.
Not even trying someone could be more wrong than you, I'm at a loss.
