which means for them to actually consider it we will have to have quite a few signatures, enough so they can feel safe that they will at least get enough to cover their initial investment and probably a better written petition than the one we have.

Armalite probably still has the technical drawings for the tooling but you are right, there is a large amount of capital which needs to be invested by them which they aren't going to do with a petition of 100 signatures.

What makes the AR-18 so popular here? From my understanding, it's an AR-15 that can be made from stamped parts. I get the cheaper to produce aspect, but what else makes it unique?
6a6811 No.325466

>From my understanding, it's an AR-15 that can be made from stamped parts
NO
It's an AR that is made of stamped parts using a piston system and no need for a receiver extension, and so it can have a folding stock that allows the rifle to be fired while folded without a metal stick shooting out the back and in to your side and allows the rifle to be more compact than the not really that compact M4.
Also it is the base for most of those new space guns with 90% more plastic and 50% more rails than the AR, and folding robot boots.

Dude with AR-180 here.
I made the first petition to get the AR-180 remanufactured. It was honestly pretty immature of me at the time, because I just wanted a cheap AR-180. In reality, the rifles are actually really fucking nice guns, but the market just doesn't seem to be there for Armalite after speaking with them. They said that after Armalite was bought out, they tried remaking the AR-180 into the 180B and it failed because of the polymer lower. Since then, they've avoided it like a plague.
I can tell you that they're honestly really nice rifles. I would like to see more made. But Armalite isn't going to listen to you, even though that the market really is there.

I've seen commentaries about the AR-18, both in english and spanish. One strike me: "ugh, I just looks ugly". I seriously want that person to step in a white hot steel Lego. Most people seems to rather choose anything because of the "cool" factor or how pretty or expensive it is (except with slavshit). Just look how many mall ninjas exist, how many shitty fantasy blades are on the internet, how mant tacticool faggots bury their shitty and cheap AR's with tons and tons of useless crap like holosights, laser sights, etc. They do that because they think that if their guns look cool, they'll be cool.
And here it is, this little stamped buddy. Almost no one remembers him, he's just a footnote about how the IRA really, really liked them. Yet the AR-18 legacy is actually more relevant that it seems at the first look.

I think the US government is to blame on this one, since they had already adopted the M-16 they never gave the AR-18 a chance, if they had it probably would have been slathered in rails for the tacticool children by now and we would be here talking about bringing back the AR-15. Sucks because the AR-18 is the better rifle, but history is history.
af90af No.325648

i don't think AR18 was seriously submitted as a replacement to the M16. the design was to be sold to countries that lacked the tooling to make M16s. AR18 requires a bare minimum of milling and the stamping is easy if Armalite provides the dies.

Not like an AK (which is long stroked piston), is more like a hammer fired VZ 58 (short stroked piston) with a bit wider and less tall bolt carrier with a double horizontal spring guide set up.
The disassembly and overall construction is very well thought and efficient.
The AUG and SA80 rifles are heavily based on the AR18. The Scar took some inspiration from it (although it looks a lot like the MA Dragunov, I doubt they could have gotten their hands on one of those). The HK416/7 and G36 are more similar to the SVD short stroke action.
>>325680
The price on the SCAR is so fucking abusive. I mean, they must be wanting to recover the R&D investment and that's reasonable, but the production cost should be stupidly low considering it's an extruded 6xxx aluminium upper receiver with an injected polymer lower and no overly complex machine parts on the inside (not more complex than any other modern gun).
It's definitely very well done and thought out, the cycling looks incredibly smooth, even with the 7.62x51 version.

Aren't you burgers about muh capitalism and muh gunz? Then one of you should try to make a few of pic related in his backyard. If he can sell them for good money, then maybe a company will start to produce them. Then there will be a cheap stamped rifle in the market, and the AR-18 will look like a deluxe deal compared the Leader. So deluxe, it will be tacticool.
Oh, just slap some rails to the Leader. And I think it would look a lot better with wood instead of plastic, but that's just my personal preference.

The civilian version? It costs $10K does not come with railz, or the new bipod or stock.
Oh, and the $4K price is just when the weapon was first acquired. It actually costs closer to $3K now.

I'm not that much. Some government big wig said that they want to make the Hungarian arms manufacturing industry great again, and now I'm seriously thinking about finding some rich nationalists who'd be on board with giving me the shekels and connections to produce a few dozen of these rifles. Then I could send them to a trial, and finally we'd rearm the army in 5.56.
And I could use that money for R&D on that airbursting RPG-7 round.
Now, our military is ridiculously small and underfunded, so rearming them wouldn't make me rich, but I'd be proud that I've done something.
Say, it is legal to import dangerous salt rifles to Burgeristan?
6dd5c1 No.326180

Nope, "assualt weapons" can't be imported. Though rifles with one feature can be I think aka the SKS because it just has a bayonet and no other scary features.
Rifles have to be imported in some sort of "sporting" configuration, just look up a siaga as a good example. Or as mangled parts kits.

I kind of wanted one as decoration. Honestly, for $10k, you can get an M240B replica that's much more faithful and makes a great display piece.
I wonder what my other options are. I really want to have one so I can bore people with MG facts. I used to have a major boner for the M240. It was way more interesting to learn than the M4 and I was really good at it. Fuck, I was the best gunner in the entire company. Then things changed, and then I got old. And now I'm not sure I could use it properly. It's really a tragedy when you think about it.

I'm pretty sure, like 95%, it's okay to import "assualt" furniture. Usually they just get someone here to make it though.
Parts kits imported usually have no receiver in them, or have one that is destroyed partially. As the receiver is the part that is the "firearm" in the US. Usually people build the parts kits on American made receivers to get around retarded shit like 922r (look it up for a glimpse of full retard)
5d80a8 No.326196

Well, I'm not in a position right now to actually consider importing it, and I might never be not with this attitude.
Still, I come up with the perfect name for the company: Lotta.
It's a female given name in Scucdinavia, and our cousins-in-language had a nice organization by this name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotta_Sv%C3%A4rd
Then I'd name the rifle (at least the civilian version) Loyalty, so the whole name would be Lotta Loyalty.
And I could run ad campaigns like this:
>it's a Lotta Loyalty
>your average AR-15 costs this much money
>this gun is a lot cheaper
>so you can buy 2-3 Lotta Loyalties for the same amount of shekels
>or buy 1 Lotta Loyalty and a lotta cheap ammo for the same price
