>Guy walks in

>"I bought a pistol here about a month ago, can you guys send it back to the manufacturer and have it repaired?"

>"Sure, what's wrong with it?"

>"Um…"

>*hands me pic related*

>"What did you do?"

>"I was reloading, and I guess I double-loaded the powder…"

>I examine the gun

>Chamber is completely blown out

>Judging from the lead shavings all down the entire length of the barrel, he also used a bullet that was too big for the bore

>Extractor is snapped off, most of it is missing

>The slide is cracked from the chamber all the way to the front sight

>The frame is cracked and bulging outward

>The sear was sticking out the side of the gun

>The right grip panel is bulged outward

>He said he couldn't find where the magazine went, but he found about half the rounds that were in it

>Lucky motherfucker got away with nothing worse than a scorch mark across the back of his hand, no further injury

>Exploded case is still stuck in the chamber, or what's left of it

>"Yeeeeaaaah, I'm pretty sure that every single component of this pistol is beyond repair."

>"Do you think Stoeger will replace it?"

>"… maybe? If you don't mention that you were using reloads?"

>Boss looks at it, shakes his head, and sticks it in a box to mail it back to the manufacturer

Holy fuck, there are some stupid people. If you can follow a recipe out of a cookbook, you can reload. This dumb son of a bitch couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the sole.

Gun is a Stoeger Cougar, for the record.

>Immediately gravitates to the Hi-Point .380

>Background check gets denied

>He walks over to the corner with his disinterested girlfriend, makes no attempt to prevent us from hearing his conversation with her, then stands around looking squirrelly while she walks over to the counter

>"I want dat one."

>Points at the exact gun he was trying to buy

>Take her ID and make her fill out the 4473

>Enter her ID into the denial database while she tries to figure out which end of the pen makes words appear

>She hands over the 4473, I don't even look at the illegible chickenscratch on it

>"Denied for an attempted straw sale. Get outta my store."

>Two blatant faggots walk in

>White guy with a really effeminate voice and a lisp, dreadlock-wearing nigger with a spic name

>"Somebody tried to break into our house, we need to get a gun!"

>They each decide to buy a separate gun and get the cheapest shit we sell that isn't a Hi-Point

>lol, S&W SD9VE and a Diamondback DB9

>White polesmoker hands over his 4473 and asks me if it still counts as a felony conviction if he was given a choice of six months in prison or three years probation

>Um, yes

>He proceeds to argue with me over whether getting convicted of a felony counts as getting convicted of a felony

>Tell him he's getting denied

>He announces he's taking the 4473 with him

>Nope, federal law says we have to keep it for 20 years

>"Can I scratch out my social security number and stuff?"

>"No sir, that would be another felony at this point."

>"Well what if someone steals my identity? I'm gonna tell them you did it!"

>"Good luck proving that in court."

>Black sodomite turns in his 4473 unfinished

>"C'mon honey, let's go somewhere else."

>Roll my eyes, enter white faggot into denial database as a convicted felon who tried to take his 4473 when he got denied, and the nigger turd burglar as an attempted straw sale

>Laugh when I realize they both left their ID's sitting on the counter

>Thirty minutes they come back all pissed off and demand their ID's; they drove all the way to our other location before they realized they didn't have them

>Then they drove all the way back to our other store and tried to buy a gun there

>lol, denied

>Coworker sticks it in a box and mails it back to Taurus

>It comes back surprisingly quick and the included letter says it wouldn't work because the internal lock had been activated; they included a spare key for it

>Coworker immediately activates the internal lock, puts the gun and key back in the box, and returns the useless pistol to the customer

>"I wanna see how long it takes him to figure out that the lock is there and he can get the gun to work just by turning the key."

>Hippie chick walks in

>Asks where the pepper spray is

>Tell her

>She tears the package open while I politely ask her not to do that, then turns with a triumphant grin and shouts something about 'evil death merchants'

>Holds up the pepper spray and presses the trigger

>Dumb bitch has it pointing at her face

>Doesn't release the trigger, just holds it down while screaming and hosing her own face down

>I think I broke a rib laughing

>I laughed even harder after the cops arrested her

>I wasn't laughing when I had to decontaminate all the holsters, soft goods, etc. she got pepper spray on

>Stereotypical liberal walks in and heads to the reloading section

>Dumps a keg of gun powder onto the floor, dumps out the contents of a box of primers, and starts jumping up and down on the primers-and-power combination while screaming that he's going to blow us all up

>He gets tackled and handcuffed, a coworker cleans up the fire hazard he created, and the cops come and arrest him

>Dumbass tried to allah ackbar a gun store by jumping up and down on primers and gun powder

>Another hippie chick walks in

>Not this shit again

>Asks if we carry any .50BMG; says she has a competition coming up and she's running low

>She becomes a regular customer, has our gunsmith make some custom precision rifles for her

>She often gets into arguments with other customers about how the government is poisoning us with GMO's, Israel did 9-11, and Agenda 21 is a genocidal plan and that's why the government hates self-sufficient people who live off the land

>Everything turned out better than expected!

>Guy walks in and goes right past an entire display of holsters

>"I guess you're sold out of holsters?"

>"No sir, there's an entire wall of holsters right there."

>Turns and stares at the magazine pouches for ten seconds

>"I guess you're sold out of holsters?"

>"Look three feet to your right."

>Looks at several dozen different holsters hanging from the wall for maybe five seconds, then says "I guess you're sold out of the one I want" and leaves

>Dude, why did you even come in here?

>>327065

Those were the first obvious fags ever, and the niggers are typically weeks apart from each other. It just seems like we're infested because they're the ones who do shit that get stories told about them.

A friend and I used to drive over into Texas and buy and sell at local gun shows all the time. All they ever asked was if I were 18. In Ohio, all you needed was a state ID and ask the buyer if they were a felon, in Arizona all you needed was a buyer. No receipt, no nothing. I'm not going to say where I am, currently, but I've bought and sold guns all over the US.

Triple K has original CZ-75 magazines, both 15 and 30-rnd capacity, in stock. I often order mags for obscure, out-of-production pistols from there whenever a customer has need and is too technologically challenged (read: over the age of 50) to order it himself.

>>327456

The pre-B has a curved trigger guard, spurred hammer, and no firing pin block, resulting in a smoother, lighter trigger pull. Older ones had a sort of ceramic/lacquer finish that was thicker and more resilient than bluing, and the absolute earliest version had a very short slide rail.

They're more desired by collectors because of the superior trigger (and given how nice the trigger on a CZ-75B is, that says something) and the relative scarcity; original CZ-75's are all over Europe, but they were banned from import to the US because Czechoslavakia was part of the Soviet bloc. Thus, only a bare handful entered the country, almost as a bringback from a GI stationed in West Germany (which is how mine came to the US). They're fairly rare in the US, and the majority of originals in America are recent imports with import marks, whereas older private bringbacks like mine have no import marks.

Most of the pre-B 75's in the US are also the transitional model, when they were switching over to the B but hadn't installed the firing pin block or changed the markings yet. They use the same magazine as the 75B, whereas a true original CZ-75 uses a proprietary magazine that is not interchangeable with the mag for the B model. Most Americans are unaware of this and will insist that the original 75 and the 75B use the same magazines, which makes the confused person trying to find a mag that works in his original 75 wonder what's wrong with his gun because none of the new magazines he bought fit in his gun.

But the black man was buying it for himself; each person was said to be buying their own, separate firearms;

>>They each decide to buy a separate gun

This implies that each person was buying a gun for their own use. If the black man had said he was buying it for his boyfriend, or something like that, I could understand saying it was a straw purchase, but nowhere in the post does he say that. Either the poster left out some important, relevant information, or he decided to fuck some guy over just for dating a felon.

acf0e1 No.327603

>>327598

The black guy stopped filling out his 4473 when his boyfriend got denied; had he finished filling it out, it would have been a perfectly legal sale. I even pointed this out to him and he still refused, apparently pissed that his boyfriend couldn't get a gun because he was a convicted felon.

At that point, he could have legally bought a gun with no problem. It was when he and his boyfriend stated their intention to go elsewhere to buy a gun that I had to enter him in the denial database, due to the extremely high potential that he would have carried out a straw sale for his boyfriend (given that this was their stated intent). At that point, he had verbally announced his intention to commit a felony and by law I am required to deny him the sale and inform other licensed dealers of his probable intent to commit a felony. I also had to add his boyfriend to the denial database because he was a convicted felon; he probably (95%) would have been denied as a result of the FBI background check, but on the off chance that he wouldn't, I had to flag him as having answered that he was a convicted felon on his 4473.

If I hadn't entered them both in the denial database, or if I had allowed either of them to take their 4473 with them, or if I had sold either of them a gun (the white guy after answering that he was a felon, the black guy after saying he was going to buy a gun for his boyfriend), that would have been a felony. I'd have been fined thousands of dollars and spent ten years in a federal prison, do not pass go, do not collect $200. The business I work for would also have been fined thousands of dollars, and very possibly lost its license to sell firearms, which would force us to get rid of our inventory of guns, probably bankrupting us in the process and making our primary source of income disappear. In other words, we'd have gone out of business.

Trust me, the ATF are vindictive bastards and they love to pounce on any and every opportunity to put you out of business or send you to prison that they can get. They are not your friends, and they are not looking out for your wellbeing. They are assholes that hate the entire firearms industry and they will go out of their way to shut you down. This is why FFL's are so anal about having all their paperwork perfect; people have lost their license and been to prison for having a mistake on one piece of paperwork out of literal thousands.

So, yeah. We play it safe and deny the sale if there's any possibility of foul play. Usually a denial lasts for 30 days, but in some cases (like being a felon) it's indefinite.

The fact that they were disgusting faggots was just icing on the cake.

acf0e1 No.327605

>>327603

We can also get in trouble if we knowingly sell a gun to someone who lives in the same residence as a convicted felon, although this depends on the circumstances. In every case where something like this comes up, we call Firearms Compliance and ask them go/no go.

We had one last month where a woman came in to buy a handgun. I checked the denial database while waiting for the background check to come back; her husband came back as having been denied the sale of a handgun at our other location the previous week because he answered that he had been convicted of domestic assault on his 4473.

I personally think the gun was for her and that it wasn't a straw sale for her husband, but we had to play it safe and call Firearms Compliance for their opinion. Her background check also came back Delayed, probably because of her husband, and they were doing more research.

I don't know how that one turned out, if she got denied or if we sold it to her. I didn't handle it after the background check got a Delay and her husband turned up in the denial database, I handed it over to the owner to deal with.

No, it's just an extra safety feature they added when they were updating the pistol to keep it competitive with other "wonder nines" on the market.

>>327802

Yes on the springs. Unless tens of thousands of hot-loaded rounds have gone through your barrel and the rifling is worn away, your barrel should be fine.

Another thing to note: the transitional pre-B's and 75B's sold in America are nearly always undersprung. In Europe, standard ammo is equivalent to American 9mm NATO or +P, while Americans spent decades with this bizarre idea that 9mm was a weak round and our target ammo is pretty lackluster; this is actually why the Luger gained a reputation for unreliability after WW2; American-made ammo was too weak to operate the mechanism reliably, while European ammo worked just fine.

So the CZ's imported into the US typically have weaker springs so they cycle reliably with low-powered ammo; the pistol is designed for a steady diet of +P and occasional use of +P+ (I do mean occasional, not regular) ammo, so go ahead and get some stronger springs and start shooting better ammo through it.

Alright, this is probably the best place to ask.

Basically I plead guilty to a felony at 16, it was non violent and was basically a post on 4chan. I don't wanna go into too much detail.

The charges were expunged and I served my probation without any problems.

I haven't had any convictions or arrests since and I'm in college right now for EE –I'm basically just trying to prove I'm not a degenerate. When I'm 21 (Not that far away) I apparently have to write a letter to an official (I quite honestly don't know the laws here that well) asking for my right to own a gun back. Whats the best way to do this? How common is it? Who do I write up?

It started as a rest between Darwin to the north and Adelaide to the south but grew when they found gold.

As for our gun laws:

1628 - March 1996 = 71 people were killed in spree shootings

April 1996 = 35 people were killed in a single spree shooting

May 1996 - Today = 13 people have been killed in spree shootings

Can't you see something had to be done? We had 0.19 deaths from spree shootings per year until one guy actually had a plan instead of being your run of the mill retard. Since the new laws we have managed to get the number of spree shooting deaths down to 0.65, only over 3 times as many as before the bans.

Gun controls has proven super effective and there aren't over 1 million SKSs that were imported before the ban that are still unaccounted for, that is crazy talk.

Unfortunately I'm a faggot as well, because this was the website that 'introduced' me to the internet. It really is just as bad as 9gag at this point, the users are 'centrist' but they're so fucking stupid that they'll believe anything that shows up on their front page without questioning it.

At the moment, they're swimming in Reddit Bernie shills, but nobody is going to do anything about it because should you point it out people label you as a conspiracy theorist.

I go there from time to time to see how it's doing, browse the front page, and these 'centrists' believe a lot of retarded shit. Like Slippery Slope being 'just a fallacy' and nothing else.

Or that Illegals pay taxes, and them being here has absolutely no effect on politics at all.

Or that Dems aren't trying to take people's guns even though there's a bill going through the House RIGHT NOW that would do exactly that.

Also, they genuinely think 4chan has meaningful discussion, so there's that.

They really are dumber than a box of rocks, as all websites with a voting system will be eventually. Them not actually discussing anything is why I left.

Because they're a poor fucker, they don't have money to move. Because they don't move, they end up with a kid in Rapetown.

This is the only weak point of ancap: Options scale directly to money, so having no money means no options. This is also ancap's strength; as you create value (and trade it for money), you gain much more freedom.

b5ef8f No.329549

>>329540

>This is the only weak point of ancap: Options scale directly to money, so having no money means no options. This is also ancap's strength; as you create value (and trade it for money), you gain much more freedom.

The end result being tyranny by the rich.

In essence not unlike the current political climate, merely lacking any pretense of legitimacy.

d27025 No.329550

>>329549

To be fair, ancap has much lower restrictions on how you can get money and how fast you can get it. It's somewhat easier to gain that power in anarchocapitalism than it is in a highly-regulated capitalism like Murrica's.

It's all trade-offs, really. Ancap gets faster and easier flow of money in exchange for lack of control, Fascism gets absolute security in what the dictator says in exchange for having a dictator, Communism eliminates power imbalance between the rich and poor in exchage for giving all the power to the men who do the paperwork.

I don't think there is a perfect form of government. There's just a fundamental problem–namely, we need someone in power, but the moment power is offered, all the jackasses go for it.

f8849b No.329551

>>329550

> It's somewhat easier to gain that power in anarchocapitalism than it is in a highly-regulated capitalism like Murrica's.

But once you gain that power, it becomes more difficult for others to do the same, especially if you use your capital influence to buy out or otherwise destroy any competition. AnCap would just result in whatever corporations got to monopoly status first as the de-facto government, but with no law or code except that of greed keeping them in check.

d27025 No.329553

>>329551

Well, to be absolutely fair, greed itself isn't a problem as much as stupidity is.

Greed likes having more money. Greed, given enough wit, can realize that you make more money by providing a good service than you do by scamming people, because in the long run you'll run out of people to scam.

Stupid doesn't think about the long term. Stupid thinks that it can outwit EVERYONE, at least until the day you die. Therefore, Stupid doesn't need to worry about sustainable business or making a good product; Stupid just needs to make sure people buy the product.

On the other hand, Greed goes hand in hand with Corruption, who says

>Well, to be absolutely fair, greed itself isn't a problem as much as stupidity is

Sure, I can buy that. But it doesn't affect my main point, which was that in an AnCap system true freedom would be suppressed as monopolies are established.

>>329558

Government systems that work with human nature prosper; governments that work against it go up in flames. And it is human nature for one to jockey for superiority with his peers, and there's no better way of showing superiority than lording over someone. Even if by some miracle you got a large group of people to put that sort of thinking aside, they're going to get conquered by someone who thinks differently in rather short order.

d27025 No.329567

>>329558

If nobody is in power, then by default might is in power.

If there are no restrictions on what money can do, i.e., in ancap, then the man with all the money wins. If there are no restrictions and there is no money, i.e., pure anarchy, then whoever can kick your teeth in wins, because you can't prevent someone from taking your stuff if you're choking on your own teeth.

If you wish to include those legally "prohibited" from owning firearms (whether that actually stops them or not) but have not actually been convicted of a crime, it drops to fewer than 900,000,000

Pretty sure that only applies to the "recommended" minimum sentence.

Sorta like NFA violations carry a "mandatory" minimum 10 year sentence yet literally hundreds of thousands of people have gotten 1 year or less.

As an example:

>youngest brother in law repeatedly stole his dad's checkbook as a teenager (16-19yo)

>convicted of check fraud on 11 different occasions

>7 of them were felonies as an adult, 2 were felonies as a minor, the first two were misdemeanors as a minor

>only 3 of them came with a jail sentence of any kind, the other 4 were straight probation

>longest actual jail sentence was 93 days, of which he served 40 before being out on parole, other two were 30 days with 5 served

>also convicted of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony aggravated battery, (felony) attempted murder (second degree), and (felony) felon in possession of a firearm after shooting a guy in a bar fight with a shitty little .22 derringer, taking his total number of felony convictions to 13 before his 21st birthday

>total combined sentence for that was 2 years jail plus 1 year house arrest plus 10 years parole plus some ridiculous number of community service hours

Yeah, I'd say they are inevitable.

Social altruism works in communities that are about the size of a paleolithic tribe, or a platoon, or a normalfag's social circle (including those of his online "friends" that he actually interacts with on a semi-regular basis).

You don't need a system of power or violent force to maintain social coherence in a group like that. There will be occasional conflict between individuals or factions, to establish or change their place in the existing chain of power, but there is no need for a constant presence of force to preserve that chain itself.

Problem is that such a group is only going to be around 100 tribesmen, tops. Not even families, individuals. Anything beyond that, and factions split off.

And that would be perfectly fine, if not for the fact that bigger social structures have more resources just by having more means to production. This means that (provided there are means to feed larger groups) smaller tribes that refuse to integrate into larger structures will be outpaced and, in due time, subjugated by these larger structures.

I am simplifying, as this process has a lot of factors going into it, but that's the gist of it. Small groups get raped by bigger groups, groups past a certain size need a power structure in order to function.

I met someone while gun shopping with my father just recently. Actually, we went to this store, which is legendary:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-gun-room-portland-2

Anyway, the guy's parrot was flying around. All his guns were AT LEAST three times the market price. I'm talking Chinese Norincos at $700+ with no bayonet. He had a lot of nice guns, but they were all well above price, IE a $1000 Garand would be priced $3000 and so on.

He had a pistol case up by the counter and my dad and I stopped to check it out. As the reviews show in Yelp, the owner hates any "plastic" gun and doesn't stock them. The cases were mostly 1911s and modern variants. The owner proceeded to sperge about how amazing the new 1911whatever gun is that the marines or special forces use now. Whatever, some people like .45 single stacks. But then he called the Beretta 92 a piece of junk, lel.

I realized I was in the presence of a Colt Cultist and extracted myself politely.

That's not the worst story I have, just the most recent. It's not a story with a lot of anger or arguments because honestly, I had been warned what to expect when I entered the store. I don't know how the hell that guy is still open when the competing gun shops are all cheaper and they are willing to sell those "evil plastic guns" and "pieces of junk" like the Beretta pistols. : D

I have a story that enraged me a lot more that I can tell. It's a tale of when I was a mostly-nogun at a gun show and I just wanted to know why two ruger 9mms that seemed functionally identical had a $100 price difference. You would have thought I was asking the guy if he'd let his daughter suck me off before plowing her ass.

Yeah, 100 dollar difference.

It was at a gun show. I was a nogun at the time so I can't remember EXACTLY what guns they were, but I was looking for a Ruger P-series (the all-metal constructions).

I am pretty sure both guns were in 9mm and both were Ruger P-series all metal. I waited in the chaos of the gun show to ask what the difference was between the two guns. Y'know, give him a chance to sell me the expensive one if he wanted to, or at least tell me about them.

You know, basic salesman stuff, I wasn't asking for a fucking hour of his time.

I asked what the difference was and he looked at me like I was a moron. I explained "because there's a 100 dollar price difference."

He said "there is?" and turned over the tags, looked at the two guns.

His response? He got this super smug and patronizing "you moron" look on his face and said "that's because they're different guns" and immediately went back to ignoring me.

No explanation of what made them different. Guess us plebs don't deserve the knowledge of an elite gun salesman like himself, because he never deigned to share it with me. I wasn't being an ass or saying anything like "boy this one gun is sure overpriced!" etc

>"those are different guns"

>fire the same caliber

>both made by ruger

>both p-series

>fucker never gave me a chance to explain that I knew these things and was asking why he was charging more for one over the other

>acted like he didn't even want me as a customer

>go online and read other customer horror stories about the business

I did eventually buy a Sig P250 from them in subcompact 9mm some months later, but only because it was fucking $250 (a steal). I was AGAIN treated like shit when I asked the lady (different person now) why it was priced so low and if there were any issues with it I should be aware of (or if the price was a misprint.) I figured for that price, maybe it needed a little work.

I try to be nice, but these gun store fuckers make me hate going to gun stores, which should be impossible.

As a nice postscript, that Sig 250 subcompact shoots like a dream and is accurate as fuck. Don't know why it was cheap. Unless I see another deal like that one though, I'm never shopping with those guys again, fuck them.

>also, what would make a 1911 not eject casings properly?

A misshapen/damaged/undersized/installed-wrong ejector or a poorly tensioned extractor.

All of which are quite common, even on very expensive 1911's from high-end, reputable companies.

Also I pretty much guarantee you didn't remove the firing pin stop if you can't get the firing pin out, since it's under a LOT of spring tension and removes itself quite readily.

>how to remove firing pin stop

1. Put on eye protection

2. Seriously, put on eye protection, the firing pin is both heavy and pointy and is under a lot of spring tension. It can and will (and has) rupture the eyball, which it will most likely be pointed pretty much straight at.

3. Remove the slide from the frame

4. Using something non-marring and smaller than the head of the firing pin (a stiff-bodied ballpoint pen works pretty good), simultaneously press in on the back of the firing pin (the part the hammer strikes) and pry towards the bottom of the slide

5. Once you've gotten the firing pin block PARTWAY out, stop using the [whatever you're prying with] and slide it the rest of the way with your thumb, keeping your palm between the firing pin and your face

6. The firing pin will violently eject itself from the firing pin channel once the firing pin block is out of the way–this is the reason for the eyepro and having your hand right there

My .460 Rowland 1911 has launched firing pins hard enough to stick in drywall several meters away when I didn't catch it properly. It does use a significantly stouter firing pin spring than normal though.

>some people just have sticks up their ass

I hear you and I get it, but it seems like I encounter an inordinate amount of these people in gun stores. It reminds me of when I was big into martial arts and every 2nd person I met was the biggest fucking asshole douche on the planet.

I never encounter the same percentage of assholes in any of my other hobbies. Not even vidya which is full of autists.

I can't depress the back of the firing pin enough to remove the stop. It's like when I try and push down on it, the pin is stuck on something. I can slightly wiggle the stop, but it is clearly still getting stuck on the firing pin back.

I came across some serious retardation in the local gun store yesterday.

>old fudd in his 60s walks in looking generally confused

>asks for ammo

>clerk asks him what kind he's looking for

>".30-06"

>clerk gets a box of the man's preferred brand and sets it on the counter

>fudd opens the box and inspects the cartridges

>"These are wrong, I want the short .30-06!"

>clerks asks WTF "short .30-06" is

>after some conversation it turns out he means .308win

>the retard had been shooting .308win out of his unmodified FN Mauser chambered for .30-06

>fudd had put like FOUR HUNDRED rounds of the stuff through his rifle without major problems

>fudd explains that "the bolt can be a bit difficult to open, and sometimes you get feed jams, but it's much quieter than the long .30-06"

>MFW

>everyone just stares in awe of the retardation

>clerk starts explaining that he's shooting the wrong ammo in his rifle

>clerk needs to explain like 4 times why it's bad.

I don't even know how he managed to buy the wrong ammo in the first place.

When you buy ammo here you (usually) need to show your license which has the cartridge type of the weapon specified clearly on it.

Checked. Reminds me of the time a guy saw the fancy 1895 Winchester in .30-40 then wanted a box of .30-30 to go with it. I chuckled a little when the clerk called him a retard for him trying to state that .30-40 wasn't a real cartridge.

Really irresponsible by whoever he's bought from in the past. Not only could they have inadvertently killed him in the worst case scenario, they can face serious charges for not checking the license as well as selling a type of ammo the guy doesn't have a license for.

Hell, my local store is so paranoid they photocopy the license and clamp it to their receipt every time you buy a gun or ammo just to cover their backs.

>Hell, my local store is so paranoid they photocopy the license and clamp it to their receipt every time you buy a gun or ammo just to cover their backs.

I've never come across this.

The place I usually visit almost never checks licenses if you seem like a chill dude.

If you walk in there and know exactly what you want they'll just ring you up and let you pay.

If you seem like you don't know what you're talking about or you seem nervous they'll check your license.

Another local place that I rarely visit due to their shitty prices and service always check the license and they write down the number on it as well as your ID number.

But for some reason they only do it with rifle and pistol ammo, not shotgun shells.

I had never encountered that before and asked them why they were doing it, they told me they were ordered to record that data by the local police.

When I questioned if the police really had aright to ask for that kind of data and if the gun shop really had a right to record that kind of data they seemed really nervous and told me not to ask any more questions.

So you can't buy ammo for a friend with a different firearm?

d6af1f No.333999

>>333716

No, sadly not.

You get a license for each weapon with the model and and caliber marked on it.

If you want to buy ammo, you'll need to show you own a firearm that can shoot it.

It's to prevent some fucker from buying an old beat-to-hell 12ga shotgun for 50 bucks, then walking into a gun store to buy 5000 rounds of 9mm to sell to the local gangs, or buying 5000 rounds of 7.62x39mm for his illegally imported AKM.

>Customer comes in asking if we have .22 Magnum in stock

>We don't

>He finds .22 Hornet on the shelf

>"That's the same thing, right?"

>"No sir, it's a completely different caliber."

>He stares at the ammo display for a few seconds more

>".17 Hornet is basically a .22 Magnum with a smaller bullet, right?"

>"No sir, you're thinking of .17 HMR. .17 Hornet is a .22 Hornet necked down to-"

>"It's the same thing, but with a smaller bullet. So the .22 Hornet is the same as .22 Magnum, just a different brand."

>"No sir, they're totally different calibers, .22 Hornet is centerfire, .22 Magnum is rimfire, and-"

>"I'll take two boxes."

>"Sir, this is the wrong ammo, it won't work in your gun."

>"Pffft, like you know anything. Just sell me the ammo."

>I do

>He comes back the next day pissed off and says I sold him the wrong ammo

>"I told you that when you were buying it!"

>Demands a refund

>All ammo sales are final, dumbass

I also have a constant battle to explain to people that 7.62x39mm will not work in their .308, and vice-versa. 7.62x54r just confuses the hell out of them.

Plenty of idiots who can't tell the difference between .357 Magnum and .357 Sig, even after you explain to them, and we've had to separate the 9mm, 9mm Makarov, and 9x23mm Winchester ammo from each other because people keep grabbing the wrong stuff. Ditto for .380, .38 Special, and .38 Super. The sheer number of people who think that .38 revolvers and .380 automatics shoot the same ammo is staggering.

I also get that one idiot who walks in and asks what ammo he should buy when he doesn't know what caliber, make, or model his pistol is, but expects me to somehow know. Some of them don't even know if they have a revolver or automatic, even after I show them an example of each. I tell every one that they can bring the gun in so we can identify it and help them get the correct ammo for it, but not a single one of them has ever done this.
