There's no discharge in the war!

I live in a state with retarded laws (CA)

I don't own any funs, but plan to change that soon.

Problem is, I ride a motorcycle and am wondering how one would legally go about transporting a raifu to/from the range in a backpack.

My backpack holds a 17" laptop with room to spare, so I'm sure a disassembled barrel/parts would fit no problem.

Can /k/ help out a noob?

thanks canadabro.

I want to be as inconspicuous as possible, and thats.. not.

I would rather not give a cop any reason to stop me.

20a613 No.328022

What kind of rifle do you have in mind?

99d342 No.328027

>>328022

I was thinking a run-of-the-mill AR15, probably with a ~16inch barrel.

b86dbb No.328030

>>327987

hilariously, California only requires you to look up handguns when driving. Only looked at it when I noticed Walmart was selling gun racks. If you were feeling retarded, you could sling it to the range, although it'd have to be unloaded and most ranges will refuse you unless the firearm is in some kind of case. Just use a rifle bag like Canada suggested. Only other idea I got is using a duffle for that "inconspicuous" look you want after disconnecting the upper from the lower

3280d9 No.328031

>>328027

You could probably detach the upper and the lower to save space and fit it in a backpack, just keep it barrel side down and the bolt&carrier should stay inside.

Other than that, get a violin or baseball bat case

7aa7a6 No.328032

What motorcycle you got?

2adc38 No.328033

Commiefornian here canad is right that bag is what you need note how that particular style and size that is usually marketed for bolt guns or shotguns because by next year al ARs will be illegal and confiscated.

If you are worried that that shape is not subtle enough just tell people with the gayest lisp you can muster that it's for your gayest person ever compettion (which you have already one btw) and is used for carrying the only dildo that you were able to find that would be able to give you any pleasure these days, at which point thunderous applause will resound throughout the valley stretching to the shores of malibu breezing up to eureka scaring away wetbacks sneaking in through San Diego and creating an earth quake which sinks san fran.

GOD SPEED YOU MASSIVE FAGGOT

Its not worth it imo. too much hassle, id just drive my car.

but traffic also sucks so maybe it is worth it. i only took handguns if i were riding to the range

c1c7e6 No.328046

A cursory read of CA law suggests that the only requirement for transporting non-handguns is them being unloaded. So buy any bag large enough for your gun, bring your ammo in boxes (does having unloaded mags next to the gun count as unloaded? In commiefornia it's probably not worth the risk), and you're set.

Do you not own a car as well? How does that work if you want to transport something too big to fit in a backpack?

You can have ammo in the same box/container as the firearm. It also has to literally be loaded. Cops used to try and convict people for having the ammo touch the firearms claiming it's loaded if a mag or just loose rounds made contact till someone took them to court over a shotgun stock sleeve or some other kind of shell holder and the court actually had enough brain cells to admit that's not loaded ammo so the mag has to be locked into the firearm for it to count.

c1c7e6 No.328060

>>328055

Thanks for the info.

For what it's worth, I meant to type "does having loaded mags next to the gun count as unloaded?", not unloaded mags.

Your kanji look unnatural, do you have a correct stroke order?

000000 No.328115

OP I once made the mistake of riding my bike with my shotgun on a case on my back. It fucks with your aerodynamics and also people will call the police on you (they did) even though it is not illegal.

I've been putting off my studies for quite some time. I'm about to start doing everything properly this month.

Knowing the language would certainly help me with importing stuff.

Yes it is probably way off, I did most of that from memory as in I remember the shape not the stroke order. I haven't actually studied in quite some time.

I should pick up my studies again now that I think about it. Nothing like 20% off of my bill at nip run restaurants.

df3e1e No.328146

>>328127

Sounds like me tbh, I didn't make any progress last year. Grammar and kana are piss easy, but goddamn that wall of kanji and vocab is disheartening.

But just knowing kana and grammar gets you pretty far, I'd been working on my rune skills for merely a month or two when I translated Little Girl 6.

346ff0 No.328231

>>328146

I have a bunch of doujinshii that will probably never be translated and that serves as my primary motivation.

I've been wondering about an uncased longgun. I don't know the legalities in my area, but unloaded is usually good regardless of county, what kind of differences in the law for motorcycles should I look at?

It's not commiefornia, so I probably will regardless, I just want some heads up.

also, would something like this do anything as a bike helmet? I don't use anything currently and ought to up the safety a hair

15cd13 No.328326

>>328280

This thing is made out of plastic, so probably isnt actually as strong, but this is what that helmet needs to protect you from.

Since you'll be faced against impacts, a metal helmet probably isnt a large improvement over no helmet unless you add a lof of padding(or if they are already padded well).

d56fe6 No.328331

>>328326

How about for a guy who just putts around? I figured their liners were at least the equal of an old aluminum hardhat. I guess those are about spreading a smaller impact.

What kind of speed was that at?

54f979 No.328337

>>328280

>would something like this do anything as a bike helmet?

If you live in a state that doesn't have helmet laws, then yes.

I still wouldn't recommend it because military helmets were used to deflect shrapnel, not protect your brain from the asphalt. If you're going to get a helmet, make sure it's DOT and Snell approved. No sense in wasting bucks on a helmet just to have it do nothing when you need it.

sage because off topic

d56fe6 No.328351

Sage for retardation on my part. No law here afaik even been front-brake-less while waiting on a part. I was more wondering how much protection would I lose. Would the metal throw shards into my head sliding on concrete? What about if I made a leather liner? That kind of thing. I'm not even on asphalt much except in town. I'm as much worried about a debris from other vehicles as anything.

54f979 No.328367

>>328351

Function over form, man. Just go buy a helmet. You'll regret it when you're a vegetable.

Plus I don't think those military helmets have any chin strap, and if they do, it's not going to be enough to hold it on when your head is sliding across whatever surface you fuck up on. The edges on the helmet would probably be more likely to leave you injured. I'm not saying it isn't better than nothing, but not by much.

be7fad No.328375

>>328351

Buy the most expensive helmet you can afford, it usually pays of in better comfort and safety. I don't fuck around as far as my cranial safety is concerned, you shouldn't either.

On a related note, I crashed with a shoei helmet once and it held up fine. Nowadays I own an x-802 from xlite and am fairly happy with it.

Alright guys. I do other stuff that doesn't really have much you can do to increase safety and most stuff I prefer to be unencumbered so I guess I've just gotten used to it. Wildlife and shit breaking on the old slow bitch is more of a problem then other people so I haven't had to worry much yet.

Please get a full-face helmet.

The most comprehensive study of motorcycle crashes done to date shows that most impacts are absorbed by the chin/face areas of the helmet.

In my own experience (NOT pictured), I've crashed going about 45mph around a curve due to some gravel. I didn't even realize the "jaw" portion of my helmet had hit the pavement until I took it off and saw that about 1/8th inch of material had been removed in the slide.

Jesus fuck you know nothing about motorcycles.

It's a plastic shell, and every helmet has a foam interior. Some with dual density foam like Shark.

Plastic shell helmets are better for slow impact and multi impact. Fiberglass are better at high speed single impacts. Adding more advanced fibers compositions just increases its top speed strength.

If I want something in the motorcycle league that can go off road, is there any good options out there, or should I just go ATV?
