They build shit, dig holes, they're never on ships and they hate the marines they always have to work with because they don't get the same treatment(read: respect) working together that corpsmen do if my old RDC's bitching and moaning was any indicator.

Have to hope they get lucky on the outside and don't hop into a an economy on the downturn looking for steady handiman or public works types jobs.

There are only a few jobs in the good old USN that'll keep you off a ship, and if for some reason you decided to join the Navy while not being on one, this is probably your best bet. MA and HM are pretty good ratings for that too.

Bees are not to be fucked with, the seabees are the /sp/ of the military, fucking badass.

Met a seabee on a flight going back from arizona to dc, he was a german imigrant who joined up but he was complaining about how they always had to work with old shit that broke constantly, and they just dissolved some units or something and that he was leaving to become an electrician since he didnt want to do anything else. I think they're great but they dont have the popularity factor other shit does and i kinda get the feeling a lot of military funding is trying to throw money at whats cool or popular and not what we need. Which i guess sums up the f35 shitfest among other things.
