The area that my grandparents live in is getting very violent as of late; kids killed a hobo with a brick for his bike, neighbors houses get robbed, a skinhead recently got out of prison and did a drug deal right in front of their house, and last night a truck ran into a nearby convenience store and robbed it. I want to get them something to defend themselves in case someone tries to rob them (She's 60, he's 50 her other two husbands both died), however there may be complications.

My grandfather is a convicted felon; when he was younger he would sell illegal weapons and drugs across the country, once he got out though he hasn't done it since. The problem here is that I'm afraid if he uses a weapon in SD that he himself might also get arrested or that I also might get arrested for knowingly allowing a firearm to be where a convicted felon can acquire it. What do?

…can a convicted felon own blackpowder guns?

907043 No.331782

If he's been keeping his nose clean he could petition to have his civil rights restored: https://www.justice.gov/usam/criminal-resource-manual-1435-post-conviction-restoration-civil-rights

Best of luck Strelok

It's legal for felons to carry and use firearms produced before 1898.

A felon can technically use a crank powered gatling gun in self defense with no repercussions.

black powder firearms aren't even legally firearms in most states so unless your state has additional laws surrounding black powder firearms you're good.

Here in Texas people would open carry black powder revolvers before open carry of handguns was legal, because they aren't legally firearms here.

>produced before 1898.

Actually they're good to go if they're new, based off firearms designed before 1898 too.
