MOSSBERG 590a1
is there any official extra gear / aftermarket gear to this weapon?
I know there are some produced by Mossberg, but it seems to be exclusive to LEO / Military.
Is there any way for a civilian to buy these things / similar things?

>Is there any way for a civilian to buy these things / similar things?
As far as I know the only thing Mossberg stopped selling to civilians was <18in. barrels because the ATF asked them to after people were using them with those birdhead grips. You can still find a gun store to order one for you though.

Pardon me if this is a stupid question.
The differences between the 590 and the 590A1 are as follows:
>A1 has a thicker barrel
>A1 has a milled aluminum trigger assembly housing
>A1 is parkerized, 590 is blued
Right? Or is there more to it?

the Hawk 982 is an 870 clone but very similar, great gun for the money and all milled unlike an actual Remington, also has a heavier barrel

As a pre-Cerberus 870 owner who's fired a 982, the 982 is 80% as good and 80% better than the post-Cerberus 870s.

I own a 982 but i've shot several 870s including an old 870 Wingmaster that's was my grandfathers
You can easily make the 982 a lot better by disassembling at sanding down any rough spots to make cycling smoother, some people complain about screws for the rear sight base being loose but that is easily fixed with some loctite
870s don't come with a sling normally either but this sling and kit work great on my 982

I can't recall if 500 stuff will fit on a 590A1. Always played around with the idea of replacing the polymer furniture on one with the wood stuff from a 500.

Considering the only main difference between the 500 and 590 is how the magtube is locked in as well as the trigger guard being polymer or metal (590a1) I'd assume everything would drop in or require a slight fitting.

well, pic related is illegal in my neck of the woods, so heaven forbid I'd ever entertain buying something like that not even for SHTF
a strap on the fore-grip is a nice touch, though.
But one do like to keep ones options open and have a look at what's available.
some stuff are legal, after all.
But will it fit?
>>331882
the barrel is thicker as well, so heat shields will not fir on the a1 even though they fir on a 590.
not that it matters, since I think it's illegal here.

The A1's barrel is thicker than the standard 590 I forgot to add that but the 590A1 comes with the headshield and bayonet lug. I have never seen the A1 model without either of those.

Ok, I own the shortie 590 with the heavy barrel. The mag tube is the same size between 500/59/a1 but the one has a different plug that is retained and has no recess for a bayonet. Any grips fore and rear will fit any of those 3. I have Hogue and its grippy and comfy. You can fit a heatshield but it will require modification. There is a company here in the states that makes a magazine conversion but then it only feeds 2.5 shells. Aside from that, check US amazon for piddly shit or ebay, good luck.

The heat shield for the 590A1 can be ordered directly from Mossberg & Sons over the phone, but I don't think they'll ship internationally. It's in the LEO catalog. Lost the product number.
I need a gunsmith to install mine, as I have ghost ring sights, so I can't just unscrew the front sight to slide it on.

I believe they only make the same coated piece of metal for all of them. Thought that the marine version was stainless steel? A black heat shield on a stainless shotgun may look weird. Not a metallurgist, so I couldn't tell you if it would cause corrosion issues.
If you want to go one step further, you could use Arctic Silver thermal compound around where the heat shield wraps around the chamber, for more effective heat transfer. Maybe slap on some radiators and fans, so you can overclock it? Hehehe.

No, it was something else, can't rally remember ATM
>A black heat shield on a stainless shotgun may look weird.
Black on top of silver? would make the heat shield vents more visible, could be bad-ass, especially since it got a black rear and front stock.
>Not a metallurgist, so I couldn't tell you if it would cause corrosion issues.
I believe that was a issue, but can't recall how that worked.
>If you want to go one step further, you could use Arctic Silver thermal compound
might work, IIRC the issue occurred when there was direct contact.

Nope, Mossberg doesn't quite care to tell anyone what the secret of their coating is but it holds up better than the parkerization on their other shotguns.

If you're into two-toned guns it can work. But the 590A1 already has a heavy barrel so a heat shield seems like it'd just add weight.

I'd say it does, purely because of that awkward pump action, not only is it at a funny angle and seems incredibly fragile, it fucking bashed the tip of your finger if you're handling it like any other gun on the planet…
