bc309c No.332276
G'day /k/
There's a pro-firearms group in Straya called Firearm Owners United (check them out on fb) that's run by a group of extremely motivated /k/ommandos and shooters, It's been quickly gaining headway within the firearms community and been the bane of the anti-gun media over the past couple of years, to the point where these guys are now getting invited to the unveiling of new Australian-made guns.
Inspired by the great successes of burgerland over the past 30 years for self defence and derestricting guns in general, they're currently having a donation drive to put up pro-fun billboards all across Australia for the purpose of defending gun rights and getting salt on a grand scale, the biggest yet in fact.
The pro-gun movements in Australia have been picking up some real steam now that the #Chan-raised youngbloods are displacing the old fudds of the previous "pro gun" organisations.
Even with the anniversary of the port arthur massacre coming up shortly, we've never been stronger, well organised or as well funded overall, and frankly it's because we've seen you guys do it and we want to emulate that.
But we're still small, and still a bit short on cash for getting real world stuff done in a timely manner.
I am not apart of the guys organising this, but it is something I really want to happen and hope that I can convince some of you to help chip in to make this a reality.
The exchange rate between USD and AUD is 1.34 at the moment, and the buying power per dollar is about the same. So any dollar you guys can spare is multiplied by an extra third in real terms.
Thanks /k/unts.

Mods, this is a begging for donations thread, but it's for a really good cause. We're filled to the brim with people who've spent our whole lives on the internet in the company of other anons, you guys have raised us and filled us with the desire for gun rights world wide, we're your brothers in arms, help us to achieve something great.

Actually its perfectly possible but you are just a moron.
If there was a 10 year period and 13 people in that period were killed in mass shootings, whether one incident or in multiple. Then you would consider that for that 10 year period there to have been 1.3 fatalities from mass shootings per year.
Of course this type of simplistic view leaves out the per capita rate which is even more important as more people = more events of human behaviour.

https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/office-of-partner-engagement/active-shooter-incidents/a-study-of-active-shooter-incidents-in-the-u.s.-2000-2013
FBI says between 2000 and 2013 there were 160 active shooter incidents, or 12.3 per year,
In these there were 486 killed, 37.4 per year, 3.1 per month.
However, in relation to the US population size of 318.9 million this results in a rate of 0.012 per 100,000 people.
This is so statistically insignificant.
Compare that to Norway over the same period. With its population of 5.1 million and its mass shooting in 2011 which killed 77 people, this results in a rate of 0.12 per 100,000 people.
In other words:
You are approximately 10x more likely to be killed in a mass shooting in Norway than you are in the United States

Now to think critically about this. On the one hand, I figure if I have any loose money it would be smarter of me to give it to the NRA or GOA so I could protect my own gun rights since, well, you can't help anybody if you can't help yourself first. On the other hand it's worth asking, how much money does the NRA or GOA actually NEED and how much is useful to it? Wouldn't a good argumentative shield for American gun rights be more other countries having gun rights, so that the tall poppy doesn't get shredded by the lawnmower?
I guess what I'm asking is how useful is this actually going to be.

I've never said that it would make shootings a daily thing. That's of course ridiculous. If people were getting shot dead every single day the population would start to decrease at a rate that births wouldn't be able to make up for in time.
>>334472
You know what, I did bring this on myself. I tend to just see stuff that makes me want to speak up even though it just cause some pointless shitfight (which too be honest, is like the majority of arguments people have on the internet). I'm too argumentative for my own good, although most of time said arguments are just vidya stuff rather than politics.
Really I came back here to check if all the threads I posted in were dead (which they were) to make sure since I didn't want any replies left unchecked, and then I saw this thread at the top of catalog and thought "Oh boy, what is it this time?" and saw some guy asking Burgers to fund his movement. This just rubbed me the wrong way, since what I remember on guy here said to me was something along the lines of "You have what you want in your country, no need to change ours", and you know what, he was right. When I decided to leave I said you can keep your guns because really, there's no point in trying to change things that are beyond your control, especially on the internet. So it annoyed me because while I decided to stop trying to argue against guns for America, others are trying to force gun culture on us by sending money to a movement in a country they don't even live in. I know OP is Australian but he was clearly trying to rally other countries' support since he mentioned exchange rates.

Only chance to talk about older shows are if they are something super-popular like Batman: The Animated Series (a show I've never watched) or something waifutards flock to like Teenage Robot. if you are so scared of funz man you really need to turn your prospective of life around go out and shoot with someone and talk about the real pressing matters of life like global warming or how you finger bashed that chick at sanctuary last night or Talk about the reasons behind why you want guns illegal not the same instant pre-disposition that these marvellous feats of human engineering are some how always going to lead to some innocent persons death, unfortunately stuff like that does happen but its not the inanimate objects fault it is the user. banning firearms makes as much sense as saying all the iron ore from the earth that made the guns needs to be banned because it can be put into a shape that can kill people and that is a retarded statement.
